NBA Bet Of The Day: Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors

If you had gone to the bookies before the start of the season and placed a NBA bet on the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors meeting in the NBA Finals, you would have probably been given some truly ridiculous odds. If you tried to place that same bet today, you would not get anywhere near the same value, as these are a pair of teams that are totally dominating their respective conferences. They meet up on Friday night in what is undoubtedly the most anticipated game of the season to this point.

Betting and Game Analysis

The Atlanta Hawks are THE surprise team of the NBA this season, compiling a 41-9 record so far. They just had a 19-game win streak broken by the New Orleans Pelicans, but were able to rebound very nicely with a win over the Washington Wizards when they returned to the cozy confines of Phillips Arena. The Hawks are 24-3 at home this season, and are playing a style of defense that has them 3rd in the league with a points against average of 96.5. Make no mistake about it, though, this is also a team that can score, and they have the number 6 ranked offense, averaging 103.4 PPG. They spread the offense around, tough, with Paul Millsap leading the way with 17.1 PPG. The Golden State Warriors are another team that has rebounded nicely from a loss, as they have rolled off three straight since losing on the road to Utah at the end of January. Their top-ranked offense (111.4 PPG) has been going great in those three wins, but the highlight came in a come from behind win versus Dallas, with Stephen Curry chipping in 51 of the 128 points that the warriors put on the board. They are not likely to have that sort of success against this Atlanta Hawks defense, and they are also going to have to try and find a way to slow down the Hawks offense, which will mean having to do a whole lot better than the 99.8 PPG they are giving up right now.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

This has all the makings of a great match-up, with both teams determined to prove that they are the best team in the NBA right now. It’s tough to see by Atlanta at home, as their last loss there came back on December 26th of last year. They have the defense to slow down Golden State, and that is why I think the Hawks get bye in a close one.
