It’s easy to look at the bottom 2 seeds in each conference as being nothing more than easy first round fodder for the elite teams in the playoffs, but you still can’t help but get caught up in the race to make it into the postseason. Online sports betting is about as exciting as it gets in the Eastern Conference, and with time running out, the teams that are currently on the bubble need to find ways to win if they want to feature in the opening round.

The Boston Celtics are one team that are making a serious push to play their way in, as they have now won 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5. That is enough to put them in at the 7th seed right now, but they will not be breathing easily just yet, especially with the Cleveland Cavaliers the next team on their schedule. As if that weren’t tough enough, they will have the Cavs back to back before closing out the season against Toronto and Milwaukee. It’s fair to say that of all the teams still in the hunt for the postseason, it is the Celtics that have the toughest path to get there. They will be relying heavily on the play of Evan Turner, as he has posted a trio of triple doubles since the All-Star Break, helping his team position themselves nicely for the home stretch.

You really have to wonder just how committed the Cavaliers are to playing all of their key players at this stage in the season. They are a lock for the 2nd seed in the East, and as such really don’t have to do anything special in the final week. That said, they may be keen to keep their ridiculously good home winning streak alive in the final few games. They have now won 18 straight games at home and have a chance to make it 21 before the season is over. With that in mind, I think they will start everyone on Friday, and perhaps get a little more creative with the bench when they travel for the return game in Boston on Sunday. You can bet that the Celtics will be hoping that they get to face a weaker squad in at least one of the meetings.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

The Cavaliers are pretty much unstoppable at home, and I see no reason why that trend won’t continue on Friday. They hammered the Celtics 110-79 in the last meeting in Cleveland, and while I expect this one to be a little closer, the end result should still be the same.
