You know that we are starting to reach a crucial point in the season when teams start to do what appears to be a high level of trash talking. The Houston Rockets just took down the Cleveland Cavaliers in an OT classic, prompting the Rockets to take to social media to post a picture of James Harden with a giant header reading “King James.” It’s an obvious swipe at LeBron, and one that is sure to not go unnoticed in Cleveland… but how about their NBA odds?

NBA Odds Analysis and Game Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers have now dropped two straight games on the road, and are back into 4th place in the Eastern Conference. Before anyone starts to hit the panic button, it’s worth taking a closer look at both of those losses. They went down to the Pacers with both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, who didn’t even make the trip, out of the line-up. LeBron returned for the Rockets game and was able to put up 37 points in the defeat, but they were still without Irving for that game, too. Many are looking at all of this as a sign that the Cavs are somewhat comfortable with where they are now, and are just taking the opportunity to rest some guys as they come down the stretch. It is certainly helpful to go into the postseason with a healthy, rested squad, and if that means taking a loss here and there, then so be it. The Cavs will have a chance to get back on track on Tuesday night when they face the Boston Celtics back in Cleveland. Boston are currently a game behind the Pacers for the final playoff spot in the East. It’s a tight race down there right now, and the Celtics are well aware of badly they need wins at this point in the season. The good news is that they have been a little more competitive of late, rolling off three straight wins before falling to Golden State in a game where they pushed the Warriors right to the end. 4 of the next 5 games for Boston take place in the road, which may well pose a problem for a team that has not been very effective (9-18) away from home.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

The Cavaliers have been a whole lot better at home than they have been on the road this season, so they will be glad to get back to Quicken Loans Arena for this match-up against the Celtics. Even if Kyrie Irving still can’t go, Cleveland should still have more than enough to get the job done here.
