Cleveland vs Dallas NBA Betting Preview

In the NBA, there seems to be a constant conversation about which of the two conferences is better. One way to gauge is to look at teams with similar records and see where they stand in their respective conferences. In the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a 40-25 record, which is good enough for 2nd. Out West, the Dallas Mavericks are 41-24, which has them sitting in 6th. It’s fair to assume that the West is the stronger conference based on those NBA odds, but these two teams will meet up on Tuesday night to help settle the argument.

NBA Odds and Game Preview

The Cavaliers have hauled themselves into that 2nd place position by staying relatively hot, while all the other teams around them are faltering. All of that said, the Cavs have not been as great as they were when they went on a recent 12-game win streak, and they have actually lost 3 of their last 6. One game of note during that stretch was a 106-97 loss to the East leading Atlanta Hawks. They were able to bounce back from that disappointing showing to knock off the Phoenix Suns at home, but their next stretch of games will see them play 6 of their next 8 games on the road. The Cavs have been less than stellar away from home, and are just 16-16 on the season. If they want to maintain their tenuous grip on 2nd spot, they are going to need to improve on that away record over the next couple of weeks. The Dallas Mavericks don’t just have a season record that is incredibly similar to that of Cleveland, their recent results have been similar, too. They have lost 4 of their last 6 games, with a loss to the Atlanta Hawks included in the mix. They have a good opportunity to get things back on track over the next couple of weeks, though, as their next 5 games will be played on home court. The Mavericks have put together a solid 21-10 record at home this season, and have won 5 of their last 6 on home court.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

There is really very little that separates these two teams, as their stats are pretty similar across the board. Dallas are a little better offensively, while Cleveland have slightly better defensive numbers. These two teams met back in early January, and it was the Mavericks who walked away with a 109-90 win. I expect this one to be a little closer, but I like the Mavericks to complete the double.
