Lakers vs Warriors Season Series

The Lakers lead 2-0, winning the last meeting 125-120 in San Francisco on Feb. 8. LeBron James had 22 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Avery Bradley added 21 points with five 3-pointers and Anthony Davis had 27 points and 10 rebounds for L.A. Marquese Chriss shot 12 for 15 on the way to 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Warriors, who got within 116-111 on Eric Paschall’s dunk with 3:13 to play but couldn’t get closer. Andrew Wiggins had 24 points in his Golden State debut. Golden State had won 12 of the last 13 home meetings with the Lakers and 10 of 13 overall.

The Lakers and Warriors have met 422 times in the regular season, where L.A. holds a 254-168 advantage. In the Los Angeles era, the Lakers are 203-128 against the Warriors.

Why Bet on LA Lakers?

The Lakers (44-12) are pulling away in the West and won their sixth in a row Tuesday, 118-109 over New Orleans in the first-ever LeBron James vs. Zion Williamson matchup.  Williamson was still injured for the Pelicans’ first two meetings of the season with the Lakers.

LeBron James had one of his best games of the season with 40 points, eight rebounds, six assists and a block 34 minutes. LeBron was 17-of-27 from the field. The 40 points were a season high, and it was his first 40-point game since December 2018 before his groin injury.

James opened up a close contest with back-to-back buckets at the rim with about three minutes left. Danny Green sealed it for Los Angeles with his fifth 3-pointer with 51 seconds to play. Green played through a laceration to his right eyelid, with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. He did go back to the locker room but not for long. He added five rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and five triples in 31 minutes. Green had scored five or fewer points in his previous four games.

Anthony Davis scored 21 points with 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and six blocks against his former team. He didn’t shoot the ball well, going 6-of-21 from the field. Davis banged his arm on a dunk attempt and then later on a block. He said after the game that he was “fine.”

As for this game, Los Angeles owns an NBA-record 17-game road win streak versus Western Conference foes. Since dropping the season-opener as guests of the Clippers on 10/22, the Lakers have not lost an away game to a conference opponent.

Why Bet on Golden State?

The Warriors (12-46) lost their seventh in a row Tuesday, 112-94 at home to Sacramento. The Kings raced out to an early lead behind 14 points in the first quarter from Harrison Barnes and never trailed on the way to their third win in as many meetings this season with the Warriors. This is the longest winning streak in the Northern California series for Sacramento since winning 15 in a row from 2000-03.

The Warriors have lost seven straight overall and seven in a row at home for the first time since dropping the final seven home games in the 2000-01 season. Andrew Wiggins, who was questionable with a sore leg on Tuesday, hit 6-of-14 shots for 16 points. The Warriors have lost all six games in which Wiggins has appeared.

Marquese Chriss hit 8-of-10 shots and 5-of-6 free throws for 21 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in Tuesday’s loss but also went to the locker room late after possibly aggravating his left calf injury. He missed his last game with a calf injury. Chriss has started the last 11 games he has played in and has scored in double figures in each of the last five (18.4 ppg in that span).

Damion Lee started and played 30 minutes Tuesday, hitting 4-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Draymond Green (right pelvic contusion) was out Tuesday but Coach Steve Kerr said he expects Green to play on Thursday. Green leads the Warriors in double-doubles (8), triple-doubles (2), total assists (262) and steals (58) this season.

The last time the Lakers won both meetings against the Warriors in the Bay Area was during the 2011-12 season, the last time Golden State was swept by the Lakers (0-4).
