With the 2017-18 NBA regular season complete and the voting process finished for this season’s MVP award, there’s literally nothing anyone can do to stop Houston Rockets superstar shooting guard James Harden from winning the 2018 NBA MVP award. Let’s take a look at the most recent NBA Odds to Win the 2017-18 MVP, a race with five competitors.

Updated NBA Odds & Predictions for MVP – April 18th

Before we go any further, make no mistake about it. This year’s MVP ‘race’ really is a one-man charge to the finish line. It’s the lock of all lock’s that’s so complete, that one of the game’s all-time greats – and the 2008 NBA MVP award winner – Kobe Bryant weighed in on the non-race that this year’s MVP chase has become.

In an interview with USA Today, Bryant stated his feelings (and those of almost every NBA observer) on this season’s MVP outcome.

“It’s got to be James,” Bryant said. “I really don’t understand the debate about picking somebody else. I don’t get it. Like, what the hell does this guy have to do? I mean for the last three years, the guy has been absolutely lights out, and now you still want to sit here and debate who should be MVP when he leads the league in scoring (30.4 points per game), his assists numbers (8.8 per) are off the charts, they have the best record in the league (65-16).

“If he doesn’t win MVP this year, what the hell is he supposed to do to win MVP, average 40 (points), 15 (assists) and 15 (rebounds)? I mean, come on now. Enough is enough.”

With that said, let’s take a look at the ‘odds’ to win this season’s MVP award, though you’d really be throwing money away by betting on anyone other than Harden.

NBA Odds for MVP

  • James Harden 1/8
  • LeBron James 5/1
  • Anthony Davis 18/1
  • Kevin Durant 20/1
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo 20/1

LeBon James is third in scoring (27.5 per game), second in assists (9.1 per game) and 15th in rebounds (8.6) with numbers that approached a triple-double this season. However, the four-time MP winner is still a distant second to Harden in this season’s race as his Cleveland Cavaliers team struggled in finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference.

After James, there’s New Orleans Pelicans’ superstar forward Anthony Davis has the third-best odds at 18/1, Davis averaged a stellar 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as he seeks his first career MVP award.

Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has 20/1 odds after putting up 26.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is among the NBA Odds favorite to win the 2017-18 MVP.

The aptly named Greek Freak will clearly have many more chances to win an MVP award, but like everyone else, just not this season.

Golden State Warriors’ superstar Kevin Durant, the 2014 MVP winner is tied with Antetokounmpo with 20/1 odds after putting up 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in his second season with the Golden State Warriors.

Prior to the start of the season, James and the San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard were listed as MVP co-favorites at 4/1, while Harden has the sixth-best odds as an 8/1 pick.

Hopefully, you got Harden as a value-packed pick earlier this year. If not, it’s now a complete lock!
