2021 College Basketball Championship Odds Update Mar. 24th

Written by on March 24, 2021

Maybe it’s because we didn’t get to have a tournament last season that March Madness seems so exciting. Or perhaps it’s because we are seeing a ton of upsets in every round, with brackets all across the nation almost certainly busted at this point. The first few rounds are in the books and we now have a few days off before we get into the Sweet Sixteen, which just happens to have a #15 seed in the mix. Oral Roberts have been the surprise of the tournament to this point, but they are still in as the big underdog given what is still ahead of them. The odds are shortening on the favorites as we speak, so now might be the time to get in and get your wager on if you haven’t already picked a National Championship winner. Let’s take a look at the favorites and their path to the Sweet Sixteen, along with their College Basketball National Championship odds.

Updated Odds to Win the 2021 NCAA Basketball Championship

Gonzaga Bulldogs (+140)

Gonzaga finished the regular season with a perfect record and have carried that over into the tournament to extend their overall season record to 28-0. They made things look very easy in the opening round, taking care of #16 Norfolk in easy fashion, winning 98-55. Things were a little tougher against #8 ranked Oklahoma in the last round, although you never really felt that the outcome was in doubt, with the Bulldogs winning 81-71. Next up will be #5 Creighton, with that game set to go on Sunday. The Bulldogs certainly look to be a deserving favorite.

Baylor Bears (+350)

There was some concern about the Baylor Bears after they were soundly beaten in the final game of the regular season, only their second defeat of the year, but they have looked comfortable through the opening two rounds of the tournament. They started out with a game against #16 ranked Hartford and cruised to a 79-55 win. They were sound on the defensive side of the court in Round 2, winning 76-63 against #9 ranked Wisconsin. Things will get a little tougher in the next round, though, as they will be up against a very good Villanova (#5) team.

Michigan Wolverines (+800)

If you wanted an idea of what this Michigan team was made of, you got it in the second round. Before we get to that, though, let’s go back to the first round of the tournament, where the Wolverines took on #16 ranked Texas Southern and took them out 82-66. It was a comfortable, but one they needed after losing 3 of their last 5 in the regular season. Next up was a big win over a very talented #8 ranked LSU team in a game that went back and forth all night. The Wolverines dug deep and came away with the 86-78. Another tough one next, as they take on #4 ranked Florida State.

Houston Cougars (+1000)

The Houston Cougars ended the regular season at 14-3, but they got on a roll late, winning 7 in a row to close things out. They had an easy start to things in the tournament, delivering a comfortable 87-56 win over #15 ranked Cleveland in the opening round. Things were not comfortable at all in Round 2, with the Cougars made to work hard to come away with the 63-60 win over #10 ranked Rutgers. They will face #11 ranked Syracuse in the next round and look like a good bet to move on.
