Why consider the Aztecs Armed Forces Bowl Odds?
Not only did San Diego State beat both, Arizona State and Stanford this season, but the Aztecs come into this contest riding a four-game winning streak that includes a 35-10 win over New Mexico in their finale on Nov. 24 while covering the spread as a 21-point favorite.
Superstar running back Rashaad Penny rushed 22 times for 203 yards and two touchdowns in his final regular-season game to lead the nation in rushing yards with 2,027 yards and 19 touchdowns.
However, somehow, Penny was left off the list of three finalists for the Doak Walker Award, which goes to the nation’s top running back. Offensive coordinator Jeff Horton called that “a joke and a disgrace,” and coach Rocky Long said Penny would probably be equally snubbed in the voting for the Heisman Trophy.
“Honestly I don’t even look at those awards like that because I’m not big on them. I’m in the Group of Five,” Penny said of the five conferences outside of the so-called Power Five. I say that every time because it’s true. They’re going to overlook me. They’re going to overlook anybody in this Group of Five. It’s just something that you have to deal with. It’s motivation basically for a lot of Group of Five players to go out there and prove to everybody that you can play because that’s how I feel like it is. They feel like you just can’t play at a higher level.”
The Aztecs average a solid 30.4 points per game (48th) while limiting the opposition to just 18.4 points per game defensively (15th). Quarterback Christian Chapman completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 1,848 yards with 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions while superstar running back Rashaad Penny.

Why consider the Black Knights Armed Forces Bowl Odds?
Why bet on Army in this contest? Because the Black Knights won seven of their final eight games and come into this bowl game matchup off a thrilling 14-13 win over Navy on Dec. 9 while covering the spread as a 2.5-point road underdog.
Army (9-3) earned its second straight win over Navy (6-6) following 14 straight losses in the series.
“We’ve got seniors in there that went 4-8 as freshmen and 2-10 as sophomores,” Army coach Jeff Monken said. “Now they’ve won 17 games in the last two years. Really an incredible change.”
The Black Knights average 29.8 points per game (52nd) while limiting the opposition to just 20.9 points per game defensively (28th). Army led the nation in rushing with their powerful triple-option rushing attack (355.8 ypg). Expert Analysis and Prediction
San Diego State will have their hands full with Army’s powerful triple-option rushing attack, but I’m going to advise you to back the Aztecs to get past the Black Knights and narrowly cover the chalk because of their powerful defense and own gifted rushing attack led by Rashaad Penny. The Aztecs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 bowl games.
Army is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against teams from the Mountain West.
Pick: San Diego State Aztecs -6.5
