Miami Hurricanes
Miami bounced back from their humbling 33-17 Week 1 loss at LSU to beat the hell out of overmatched Savannah State 77-0 in Week 2 as Malik Rosier tossed two TD passes and ran for another while backup N’Kosi Perry added three TD passes in the win. Miami racked up 494 yards of total offense while holding Savannah State to just 78 yards of offense while recording four turnovers.Toledo Rockets
Toledo smacked VMI senseless in their regular season opener two weeks ago as quarterback Mitchell Guadagni tossed three TD passes and the Rockets added 213 rushing yards and a whopping five scores on the ground. Toledo’s defense recorded two interceptions and one fumble recovery.Prediction
Even on the road, I like the Miami Hurricanes to easily cover the spread as a modest 10-point favorite. The Canes beat the Rockets 52-30 last season to cover the spread as a 13.5-point home favorite and I’m thinking this season’s meeting is going to produce a similar outcome. Miami has gone 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS win, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games in the month of September and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points. While Toledo has gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall, the Rockets are also just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games following a bye week. In addition to all of that, Miami simply has far more top-notch talent on their roster than Toledo. The Hurricanes are the easy pick for me to win and cover the chalk. Score Prediction: Miami 49 – Toledo 21Ball State (1-1) at Indiana (2-0)
