Top Betting Picks for 2019 College Football Bowls
Saturday, Dec. 21st
Las Vegas Bowl – Boise State vs Washington
- College Football Odds: Washington (-3 ½)
This will be Washington coach Chris Petersen’s final game. He stepped down after the Huskies won their final regular-season battle against rival Washington State. Although many feel Petersen’s absence will lead to a Washington win and cover, they play one of the top teams in the nation on Dec. 21. Boise State is 12-1 SU. They’ve gone 3-1 ATS in their last 4. Broncos keep this within 3 points.
College Bowl Pick: Boise State
Friday, Dec. 27th
Holiday Bowl – USC vs Iowa
- College Football Odds: Iowa (-1 ½)
Iowa has a good defense. The offense has trouble moving the football, though. USC scored 31, 41, and 52 points in their final 3 games. They take the Holiday Bowl this season.
College Bowl Pick: USC
Saturday, Dec. 28th
Cotton Bowl Classic – Memphis vs Penn State
- College Football Odds: Penn State (-7)
Memphis can score like a Power 5 Conference team. But they also give up a lot of points. Not only that but in the Cotton Bowl they face one of the top defenses in college football. Penn State should roll to an easy win in this matchup.
College Bowl Pick: Penn State
Peach Bowl / CFP Semifinal – Oklahoma vs LSU
- College Football Odds: LSU (-13 ½)
Is LSU good enough to beat the Oklahoma Sooners by more than 13 points? They are, but this presents a tough matchup. LSU’s defense is better than Oklahoma’s. The Tigers’ offense might not be. Oklahoma can score with LSU, which means this game could come down to the last couple of possessions. Back the Sooners to keep this within the spread.
College Bowl Pick: Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl / CFP Semifinal – Clemson vs Ohio State
- College Football Odds: Clemson (-2)
Although Ohio State rallied against Wisconsin to win the Big Ten Championship, Clemson is the chalk in the second CFP Semifinal. The line is off. The Buckeyes outscored Wisconsin 27-0 in the second half of their Big Ten title game win.
College Bowl Pick: Ohio State
Monday, Dec. 30th
Orange Bowl – Florida vs Virginia
- College Football Odds: Florida (-13 ½)
The betting line is misleading. It implies Virginia won’t lose by more than 2 touchdowns. The Gators should beat UVA by at least 17 points if not 24. The Cavaliers lost to Louisville and North Carolina this season. They have no shot against the SEC East runner-up.
College Bowl Pick: Florida
Wednesday, Jan. 1st
Outback Bowl – Minnesota vs Auburn
- College Football Odds: Auburn (-7 ½)
Minnesota is on a downtrend. Auburn is on an uptrend after beating rival Alabama 48-45 in the Iron Bowl. Auburn wins and covers.
College Bowl Pick: Auburn
Citrus Bowl – Michigan vs Alabama
- College Football Odds: Alabama (-7 ½)
Michigan’s defense has no shot in this game. The Alabama Crimson Tide should score at will. If the Wolverines couldn’t stop Ohio State’s wide receivers, they won’t stop the Tide’s. Bama has 4 WRs that will start on Sundays next year.
College Bowl Pick: Alabama
Rose Bowl – Oregon vs Wisconsin
- College Football Odds: Wisconsin (-2 ½)
The Ducks looked great when they decimated Utah’s CFP hopes in the Pac-12 Championship. Beating Wisconsin is a whole other thing, though. Badgers’ RB Jonathan Taylor should have a huge game. Also, Wisconsin fields the best defense Oregon will have faced since Auburn’s in Week 1.
College Bowl Pick: Wisconsin
Sugar Bowl – Georgia vs Baylor
- College Football Odds: Georgia (-7 ½)
Georgia limps into the Sugar Bowl. Baylor almost upset Oklahoma. The Bears take their frustrations out on a Dawgs team that figures to underperform after the SEC blowout loss to LSU.
College Bowl Pick: Baylor
