College football’s postseason begins Saturday with six bowl games (one involving FCS schools). Later this week, look for individual previews of the Cure, New Mexico, and Las Vegas Bowls. Here’s a look at the two other FBS bowls on Saturday, the Camellia and New Orleans, with NCAAF Odds.
The Blue Raiders were able to shake off a 1-2 start and an injury against Florida International to quarterback Brent Stockstill to win the C-USA East Division for the first time after FIU lost to Marshall. MT Raiders wanted to play in a bowl game closer to Christmas, but a 27-25 loss to UAB in the Conference Championship game changed that outlook. MTSU played a grueling non-conference schedule, which included losses to three SEC East teams.
Stockstill is healthy now and the senior has thrown for 3,214 yards with 28 touchdowns and only eight picks this year. Stockstill is an extremely accurate passer, and he has only had one multi-interception game this season.
Over the last three seasons, Middle Tennessee is 11-3 against the spread when coming off a straight-up loss. The Blue Raiders won their first bowl game since 2009 in last year’s Camellia Bowl.
