College Football 2016 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: Huskies (12-1) At Crimson Tide (13-0)
When: Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at 3:00 PM ET
Where: Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA
Live Stream: Watch ESPN
NCAAF Odds: Alabama -14.5 / Total: 54.5
Washington (12-1 SU, 7-6 ATS) won their final three games of the season, including their emphatic 41-10 rout of Colorado in the Pac-12 Championship game while easily covering the spread as 8-point favorites. The Huskies are very well-balanced on both sides of the ball and average a stellar 44.5 points per game this season to rank fourth in scoring while simultaneously limiting the opposition to just 17.2 points per game defensively to rank an impressive ninth in points allowed.
Quarterback Jake Browning has been outstanding in completing 63.2 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards while tossing a jaw-dropping 42 touchdown passes and just seven interceptions. Underrated running back Myles Gaskin has rushed for 1,339 yards and 10 scores while wide receivers John Ross and Dante Pettis have combined for a jaw-dropping 126 receptions for 1,918 yards and 31 TD grabs.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama (13-0 SU, 9-4 ATS) remained unbeaten by pounding Florida senseless in their 54-16 SEC championship game to easily cover the college football betting line as a 24-point favorite to snap a two-game ATS skid.
The Crimson Tide’s offense doesn’t get much credit, but they average a stellar 40.5 points per game to rank 13th nationally in scoring. Of course, the Tide’s well-renowned defense has been even better in limiting the opposition to just 11.8 points per game to rank a nation’s best first in points allowed.
For the season, gifted freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts has completed a stellar 65.2 percent of his passes for 2,563 yards with 21 touchdowns and just nine interceptions while rushing for an additional 841 yards and a dozen scores. Running back Damien Harris led the Tide with 983 rushing yards while wide receivers ArDarius Stewart and Calvin Ridley have combined for 117 catches for 1,550 yards and 14 TDs.
Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
I know college football fans everywhere have jumped all over the Alabama Crimson Tide to take down the Washington Huskies en route to the emphatic cover as a two-touchdown-plus favorite, but I’m not seeing it and believe the Tide could very well suffer an outright upset loss against the Huskies.
While Alabama has gone 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games and 13-4 ATS in their L/17 games against a team with a winning record, Washington is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in the month of December and 6-1 ATS in their last seven non-conference games. Statistically speaking, Washington should give Alabama more than a run for their money and I believe they’ll do just that. While I’d like nothing better than to pick the Huskies for the outright win, I’m going to refrain and simply urge you to back them to cover the spread.
