Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia all win big

#1 Clemson, #2 Alabama, and #3 Georgia all won impressively on Saturday. Of the three teams, Clemson’s win over Atlantic Coast Conference rival Miami was the most impressive. The Tigers dominated the Hurricanes 42-17. Because the Big Ten and Pac 12 have yet to play this season, Miami entered the matchup ranked in the Top 10. All the top team in the nation did was put a 30-point beating onto their opponent.

Alabama had a much tougher task than Clemson. The Crimson Tide faced off against rival Ole Miss. Lane Kiffin coaches Ole Miss. He knows Bama HC Nick Saban well, which is why, for a while at least, it appeared as if the Rebels might pull off the upset. But then, Alabama used it’s first in scoring offense to dominate the Rebels. The Tide rolled Ole Miss 63-48. Bama didn’t cover, but then Saban’s team always faces underlay odds.

The Tennessee Vols kept it close against the Georgia Bulldogs for a while. Tennessee had the lead at halftime, 21-17. Georgia got the proverbial light the fire talk from coach Kirby Smart during the break, though. UGA came out of halftime and outscored Tennessee 27-0. The Dawgs beat the Volunteers 44-21.

Clemson takes on Georgia Tech in their next. The Tigers are -27 favorites. They should have a tough time covering after such a fantastic beat down against a much tougher rival. Then again, quarterback Trevor Lawrence is in ultimate control.

As far as Alabama and Georgia are concerned, those two squads play each other on Saturday. Kirby Smart, like so many top coaches in college football, learned under Nick Saban. The mentor has gotten the better of the mentee in recent matchups. Will this one be different? Georgia may have the best defense in NCAAF. Alabama’s offense averages over 51 points per game.

Notre Dame and North Carolina to show biggest odds moves

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and North Carolina Tar Heels figure to show the largest downward moves to win this season’s National Championship. The Fighting Irish have climbed to fourth while the North Carolina Tar Heels are at fifth.

Oklahoma State is now at seventh. The Cowboys battle the Iowa State Cyclones, Notre Dame takes on Louisville, and North Carolina is a massive favorite versus Florida State. If all three win, and based on odds they should, expect one of these three teams to jump to third depending on what happens in Alabama-Georgia

Have a great week!
