The National Championship may be over following Clemson’s exciting title-game win over Alabama, but college football bettors like you are already looking at the top contenders that could potentially win the 2018 national championship. Thanks to this look at five of the top contenders to win it all next season, you’re going to be able to make a knowledgeable futures odds wager on next season’s potential championship winner. Now, let’s get started.

A Closer Look At The Early 2018 College Football Championship Contenders

Louisville 12-1

I know Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino isn’t the most likable guy around, but he’s got a great offensive mind whether you like him or not. Combine that fact with the play of jaw-dropping Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson and it’s easy to see Louisville contending at the very least.

Michigan 12-1

The Wolverines will be stout on defense under head coach Jim Harbaugh and they should be better next season on offense thanks to the maturation of now, unquestioned starting quarterback Wilton Speight.

LSU 12-1

The Tigers took off after firing Les Miles and have high hopes – and a bunch of talent for new head coach Ed Oregeron heading into next season. The Tigers open up against Miami in an intriguing affair next season.

Clemson 18-1

The reigning national champs have a huge hole to fill with the departure f superstar signal-caller Deshaun Watson, but make no mistake about it, head coach Dabo Swinney has turned his program into a perennial title contender.

Penn State 30-1

I’m completely stunned that the Penn State Nittany Lions aren’t a bit higher on the board for their stupendous 2016 season, but no matter, Penn State has a slew of elite high schoolers coming in and return a whopping 16 starters next season, including gifted quarterback Trace McSorley and future NFL star Saquon Barkley, making them my top ‘contender’ to bag next season’s national championship.
