Georgia vs Florida NCAA Football Betting Preview

Written by on October 28, 2014

Football fans in Jacksonville don’t often have very much to get excited about, but that all changes once a year when the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators bring their rivalry to town.  Gators fans have one slim hope remaining, they are out of the postseason contention and college football odds for week 10 list them as 13-point home dogs, but that does not mean they have no reason to celebrate. The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is set to go again this weekend, but only one of these two teams will get the victory once the game clock hits zero.

Lets Take an Insider’s Look at the Georgia @ Florida Match Up Betting Preview

The Gators (3-3, 2-3), who are coming off two consecutive home losses face the No. 9 Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1)  at EverBank Field. The Gators have lost three in a row to Georgia and are a 13-point underdog heading to this game. The Bulldogs may actually have something to celebrate beforehand, if the NCAA does as expected and reinstates RB Todd Gurley. The big man has been sidelined by Georgia for the past two games amid allegations of being paid for his likeness, but his replacement, Nick Chubb, has stepped up in quite stunning fashion, crossing the 100 yard barrier in the two outings without Gurley. This is a Georgia team that seems to have taken the Gurley suspension to heart and used it as inspiration. The defense has also stepped up their game with 9 takeaways in the last two games. Florida is a team heading in the complete opposite direction, with the entire football program in seeming disarray. They are 3-3 on the season, and all the talk in Gator land is that Coach Will Muschamp will not likely to be back next season, assuming he ‘s able to finish this one. The feeling is that he can’t get his team fired up for this game, it may very well be his last. They have an offense that coughs and sputters its way through game, and which is very prone to the turnover, which plays right into the hands of this newly fired up Dawgs.

My Expert Betting Prediction and Pick

Georgia is a 13-point favorite for this big rivalry game, which is no surprise since they still have their eyes firmly on a potential playoff spot. If they can get to the Florida QB early, which is a distinct possibility, the rout could be on. The Gators had the Bulldogs number during the Tim Tebow era, but there has been a real shift in power over the last few seasons, which has seen Georgia become the top Dawgs. There are still some questions about QB Hutson Mason, but those will be invalid if the Dawgs can pound the rock on the ground. This looks like an absolute no contest to me, especially if Gurley is cleared to play again. He may not get many carries in his first week back, but you still can’t ignore the emotional impact that such a return would give the Bulldogs.
