The ninth-ranked LSU Tigers won’t have any problem beating tiny Eastern Michigan University when the two schools meet for their Week 5 matchup on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Whether the Tigers can cover the spread as whopping six-touchdown-plus home favorites is another story all together for College Football Odds fans. Now, let’s find out if LSU can bring home the bacon.

Why Bet on the Eastern Michigan Eagles

Eastern Michigan got blown out of the water in its 58-36 Week 4 loss to Army while never coming close to covering the spread as a 1.5-point home underdog. Quarterback Brogan Roback completed 27 of 39 pass attempts for 280 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while running back Darius Jackson rushed 16 times for 141 yards and two scores. Unfortunately, the Eagles allowed Army to rush for an insane 556 yards on 71 carries.

Why Bet on the LSU Tigers

LSU got past Syracuse 34-24 in Week 4 despite failing to cover the spread as a 23.5-point road favorite. Quarterback Brandon Harris completed eight of 16 passes for 157 yards with one touchdown while supremely-gifted running back Leonard Fournette had another monster day in rushing for 244 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the Tigers to victory. “As a football team we won, and we did so in a sloppy manner,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “Leonard (Fournette) had a big day and certainly contributed very significantly, but we’ve got to fix things, all of which includes every player and every coach on the team.” For the season, Harris has completed 61.7 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions while Fournette has rushed for 631 yards and eight touchdowns.

My Expert Game Analysis and Pick:

I know Eastern Michigan lost to Army by 22 points the last time out, but I’m skeptical that LSU can cover the spread as whopping 44.5-point favorites. Having said that, 53 percent of the betting public likes Eastern Michigan to cover the spread and I believe they will as well. 67 percent of the betting public likes the Over and I agree with the majority of Total bettors here. The Over is 6-1 in the Eagles’ last seven games overall and 12-2 in their last 14 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Over is also 8-2 in LSU’s last 10 home games versus a team with a losing road record and 8-3 in the Tigers’ last 11 non-conference games. The Pick: LSU 49 Eastern Michigan 14
