Forget about your heavily favored teams like Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson who should all be due for obvious victories in Week 2. This article is about the SU picks for those top Week 2 games that look to offer the best online college football odds values.

Here’s a Closer Look At The Top College Football SU Picks For Week 2

BYU at Utah (-3), Saturday, September 10, 7:30 PM ET

Week 2 NCAAF SU Pick: Utah BYU Cougars is coming off a morale-boosting 18-16 win over Utah, so the team should be damn psyched for a strong show against the Utes, their second Pac-12 foe in a row. Unfortunately for the Cougars, they have a poor 0-5 SU mark in their last five straight games against the Utes dating back to 2010. In addition, the Utes looked solid enough in their 24-0 win over Southern Utah last Thursday, with freshman quarterback Troy Williams decently passing for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Putting such numbers against BYU’s defense will certainly not be easy against BYU’s veteran-laden defense. Still, with Utah’s equally stellar defense taking care of things on the other side of the ball and helping to clean up any mistakes from the young Utes offense, the betting value here should be with the Utes.

Penn State at Pittsburgh (-6), Saturday, September 10, 12:00 PM ET

Week 2 NCAAF SU Pick: Pittsburgh Historically speaking, Penn State has dominated this series in the past, winning 3 of the last 4 overall meetings vs. Pittsburgh, including a 20-0 shutout when these two teams last met in 2000. In fact, had this game come in 2015, I’d be jumping on the Nittany Lions, as Christian Hackenberg was a talented QB and Penn State’s defense played quite well at the time. But we are in 2016 and Hackenberg is now in the NFL with the Jets, leaving an iffy situation at QB. Penn State’s 33-13 win over Ken State in Week 1 also showed vulnerabilities in both the Nitany Lions’ O and D lines. On the flipside, Pittsburgh has a solid QB in Nathan Peterman, who is supported by an efficient running game and an above-average defense. And to make matters worse, Penn State has been rather poor on the road in recent times, going 1-4 SU in its last 5 games. With that in mind, the Panthers should almost definitely offer the best value here on the SU lines. By the way, although Penn State is 3-1 in the last 4 vs. Pittsburgh, the Panthers are 4-0 ATS in those four contests, so you may want to consider the hosts for the ATS value as well.

Middle Tennessee at Vanderbilt (-5.5), Saturday, September 10, 4:00 PM ET

Week 2 NCAAF SU Pick: Middle Tennessee Okay, this is me going out on a limb, but if you watched how Vandy and Middle Tennessee played in Week 1, you’d understand why I am siding with the Blue Raiders and not the Commodores for the win here. Vandy’s offensive struggles from last season have seemingly carried onto this season, as the Commodores totaled just 73 passing yards, 169 rushing yards and 10 measly points in a slugfest against South Carolina in Week 1. The Commodores, who closed the game against South Carolina as 5.5-point favorites, ended up losing the game 13-10. Conversely, Middle Tennessee was fluent in offense and defense, racking up 435 passing yards, 246 rushing yards in an impressive 55-0 shutout of Alabama A&M, covering a 47.5 spread in the process. Besides that impressive Week 1 showcase from the Blue Raiders, history indicates that Middle Tennessee is 3-1 SU and 3-1 ATS in its four head-to-head meetings against Vandy. Given a chance against the overrated Vandy, I surely expect Middle Tennessee to come up big. Vandy’s defense will keep them in the contest momentarily, but the Blue Raiders will settle and run away with this game, possibly even delivering a double-digit upset victory.
