What is UCF’s Straight Up Prediction this Season?

Central Florida’s starting quarterback from last season, John Rhys Plumlee, returns this season. But just because Plumlee returns, it doesn’t mean the UCF offense will excel.

For starters, UCF goes from a decent conference with, maybe, 3 to 4 quality teams, to one of the deepest, toughest conferences in the nation.

Not only that, but the Knights must travel to Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. An early showdown against Boise State happens on the Broncos’ blue field.

So Plumlee must step it up in the passing game as well as the rushing attack. It’s difficult seeing him do that. Also, the Golden Knights must tackle offenses that are much better than the offenses they faced in the ACC.

The Knights should win 5 games versus: Kent State, Villanova, Kansas, Cincinnati, and Houston. Any other wins will be icing on their first Big 12 cake.

Last season, the Central Florida Knights went 7-6 against the spread counting the 13-30 bowl loss to Duke.

Oddsmakers had a good idea of the lines to set on Central Florida games. This season, oddsmakers have a tough job. UCF could surprise in the Big 12. Or the Golden Knights could flounder against the tougher competition.

Although we would love to write that UCF plays well against their competition, we can’t because Plumlee doesn’t pass the ball well enough for Central Florida to hang with the better teams in the Big 12.

What Will Be the Over Under Total Record for UCF Knights Games in 2023?

The Knights averaged 480.8 yards and over 34 points per game versus American Athletic Conference opponents. Big 12 teams have much better defenses than AAC teams.

Plumlee, unless he picks up his passing big time, will struggle to rush the football against teams like Baylor, Oklahoma, and Kansas State. The Big 12 has gotten better defensively in recent seasons.

So we should expect more under games than over. 5-7, like UCF’s ATS and SU predicted records, seems plausible.
