Why Bet On UCLA at +17.5?
There’s only two reasons to back the Bruins in this one. First, Chip Kelly’s team is completely and utterly desperate and second, they’re getting a ton of points against the Cougars. The bad news is that the Bruins have been held to an identical 14 points in all three of their losses this season, including last weekend’s humbling 48-14 blowout loss against No. 4 Oklahoma.
Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns against the Sooners, but he also tossed a pair of costly interceptions and UCLA’s defense allowed Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts to throw three TD passes while rushing for 150 yards and another score. For the season, the Bruins are averaging a woeful 14,0 points per game (127th) while allowing a generous 31.7 points per contest defensively (101st).

Why Bet On Washington State at -17.5?
There are a bunch of good reasons to back the Cougars in this matchup despite the fact that they’re two touchdown plus home favorites. First, Washington State is averaging a healthy 49.3 points per game to rank 11th nationally in scoring. Then, there’s the fact that the Cougars have allowed just 16.0 points per game defensively to rank an encouraging 32nd in points allowed. Sure, they didn’t play any real competition in their opener against Northern Colorado or their Week 2 matchup against New Mexico State, but they did look solid in last weekend’s 31-24 win over a solid Houston team. Then, there’s the fact that quarterback Anthony Gordon has thrown for over 400 yards and at least three TD passes in each game this season while completing an incendiary 78.7 percent of his passes.

UCLA vs Washington State Expert Prediction & Pick
While I’ll be the first person to admit that I’m not real fond of the high point spread in this Week 4 matchup, I’m thinking Washington State is the only team worthy of a wager in this Pac-12 pairing, mostly because UCLA has looked almost completely inept through three games. The Bruins are having big troubles scoring the ball and this comes under a guy that is supposed to be an offensive genius in Chip Kelly. UCLA isn’t playing very good defense and they’ve also got a lack of experience at different positions on both sides of the ball as kelly continues to rebuild the Bruins gridiron program.
UCLA has gone a discouraging 6-14 ATS in their last 20 road games, 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games in the month of September and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. On the flip side of the coin, Washington State has gone a bankroll-boosting 12-3 ATS in their last 15 home games, 7-2 ATS in their last 9 conference games and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games overall. I’m playing No. 19 Washington State to cover the big spread in this one and you should too!
Pick: Washington State -17.5
