#4 Oklahoma Sooners at #25 TCU Horned Frogs
When: Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 pm ET
Betting Line: Oklahoma -4.5
Analysis: Don’t get us wrong, Oklahoma is awesome. The Sooners are undefeated and 3 and 1 against the spread. They beat West Virginia 45 to 33 as a -7.5 road dog in their last game after spotting the Mountaineers 10 points. They just dominated the second half. But they face a TCU Horned Frog team that has outscored their three opponents 134 to 21. One of those victories was a 30 to 7 win against Minnesota, a team that just got done handling Michigan this past Saturday.
Neither team has an advantage when it comes to the trends, but Oklahoma has a lot of pressure on them while TCU can play loose in this game. The Sooners have shown lapses in some of their games. It just feels like a good time to take a stand and see if we can catch them napping.
Pick: TCU Horned Frogs
#15 LSU Tigers at #5 Auburn Tigers
When: Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 pm ET
Betting Line: Auburn -8
Analysis: Really? LSU’s loss to Mississippi State makes them an 8 point dogs on the road at Auburn? LSU versus Auburn is one of the great rivalry games in college football with both teams seemingly knocking the other out of the run for a National Championship year in and year out. LSU lost their championship chances a couple of weeks ago against Mississippi State, but that’s exactly why they’re a great pick to upset Auburn on the moneyline this week. Both have good defenses on paper, but LSU’s offense has been, unbelievably, slightly better than Auburn’s.
Not only that, but LSU Coach Les Miles no doubt is going to push his team hard this week and let them know that if they beat Auburn, the Mississippi State loss will be all but forgiven.
Pick: LSU Tigers
Arizona State Sun Devils at #16 USC Trojans
When: Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 pm ET
Betting Line: USC -10
Analysis: So, the question is what happened in Arizona State’s 27 to 64 loss to UCLA in the Sun Devils’ last? Maybe Arizona State isn’t that good, but our guess is that the real UCLA finally stepped up and played the way that everybody expected them to when they were a pre-season Top 10 ranked team. Arizona State is not a bad team at all. The defense up until the UCLA debacle had been holding teams to less than 25 points per game. The Sun Devils’ offense is fantastic it averages 561 yards and 42 points per contest.
The trends also give ASU the edge since the Sun Devils are 5 and 1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. USC is 6 and 1 against the spread in their last 7 home games and Trojan QB Cody Kessler has been awesome so far this season, but USC, like Oklahoma, might take a nap this week.
Pick: ASU Sun Devils
