A Closer Look At The 2017 NFL Super Bowl Odds And Payouts

Playing the Super Bowl Straight Up

The Patriots have been to this dance a few times, so it’s no real surprise that experience is playing big with the bookies and the betting public. You can get the New England Patriots at -160 right now, which would translate to a $62.50 profit if the favorites get the win. The Falcons are a nice bet at +135, which would mean a profit of $135 if they come out with the mild upset. The straight up play is perhaps the most common bet in big games, mostly because you get a lot of casual bettors looking to make an uncomplicated wager.

Playing the Super Bowl Against the Spread

If you are looking for a little better profit, you need to look at playing against the spread. The Patriots have been installed as a 3-point favorite for the big game, with the odds for covering set at -115. That would mean a nice profit of $86.96 if they are able to cover. There is even more money to be made if you take the Falcons to cover and they come good. If they can win, or lose by less than 3, then you would pocket a nice little profit of $95.24.

Playing the Super Bowl OVER/UNDER

The OVER/UNDER has been set high for Super Bowl 51, with the total opening at 58.5 points. This is not really to shocking given that both teams have the ability to rack up he points on any given Sunday. Both teams have seen each of their playoff games go OVER, and if you think this one will, too, you can get odds of -115, which delivers a profit of $86.96. The odds for the UNDER are a little better at -105, which would translate to a profit of $95.24 for your $100 bet.
