NFL Betting: 2017 Atlanta Falcons Season Guide

Written by on June 20, 2017

Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons (11-5 SU, 10-6 ATS) may have been on the wrong end of a historic Super Bowl collapse the last time we saw them, but the high-scoring Falcons have plenty of hope to get back into the playoffs in 2017 and earn a shot at redemption. No matter what happens to the NFC South Super Bowl runner-ups in 2017, there’s no denying the fact that there are several ‘must-bet’ matchups highlighting Atlanta’s 2017 schedule that no NFL betting enthusiasts should miss out on wagering on. Thanks to some expert analysis on a half-dozen ‘must-bet’ Falcons games this coming season, you’re going to be in a great position to cash in at least six times on the reigning NFC champions in 2017. Now, let’s get started.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Atlanta Falcons 2017 NFL Betting Guide

Week 1

Falcons (-6) at Bears Analysis: While Atlanta’s Week 1 opener isn’t a very glamorous matchup with the elite Falcons taking on the rebuilding Bears, Matt Ryan and company are virtual locks to lay a humongous smackdown on the lowly Bears who have all sorts of issues heading into 2017. While the Falcons averaged a league-leading 33.8 points per game in 2016, Chicago put up just 17.4 points per game to rank an uninspiring 28th in scoring. With the Falcons posting a near-perfect 7-1 ATS mark on the road a year ago, it’s a no-brainer that Atlanta wins and covers in their 2017 regular season opener. Pick: Atlanta 31 Chicago 17

Week 2

Packers at Falcons (-2.5) Analysis: The Falcons beat the Packers 44-21 in the NFC Championship game last season mostly because Green bay had absolutely no answer for Atlanta’s high-scoring offense while the Falcons managed to put the clamps on Rodgers and Green Bay’s pass-heavy offense. While I’m not expecting another rout and similar outcome as their last meeting, I do like the Falcons to hold it down at home to get the win and ATS cover against a Packers defense that finished the 2016 season ranked a modest 21st in points allowed (24.2 ppg). Pick: Falcons 31 Packers 28

Week 7

Falcons at Patriots (-6.5) Analysis: Atlanta will be on the road for their Super Bowl rematch against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but I like them to get the ATS cover at the very least, if not the outright road win. Atlanta will definitely be looking for revenge and while they might not get it by beating the Patriots outright, I believe they’ll put enough points on the board o make an easy ATS cover stand up, again, particularly after they went 7-1 ATS on the road a year ago. Pick: Patriots 28 Falcons 24 Falcons (-1) at Panthers

Week 9

Falcons (-1) at Panthers Analysis: Atlanta laid a pair of smackdowns on their NFC South division rivals a year ago by beating Carolina 48-33 at home in Week 4 to cash in as a 2.5-point home dog before handing the Panthers a 33-16 loss in Week 16 to cover the NFL betting line as a 3-point road fave. However, I’m expecting Carolina to be a lot better in 2017 than they were a year ago as they suffered a Super Bowl hangover, which is why I’m going to advise you to back the Panthers to get the win and narrow ATS cover. Pick: Panthers 27 Falcons 24

Week 10

Cowboys at Falcons (-1) Analysis: The Dallas Cowboys had a fantastic season in posting a 13-3 record a year ago that was the best mark in the NFC, but seeing as how the Boys ranked an uninspiring 26th against the pass a year ago, I think Atlanta wins and hold it down at home to cover the spread. The Cowboys have an elite rushing attack, but they need to improve their passing attack and their pass defense in a big way in the new season if they really want to contend for an appearance in Super Bowl 52. This game should be a thriller, but it’s also one I expect the Falcons to win! Pick: Falcons 31 Cowboys 28

Week 11 (Monday)

Falcons at Seahawks (-3) Analysis: The Falcons beat the Seahawks 26-24 at home last season in Week 6 but failed to cover the spread as a 7-point home favorite. For this Week 11 showdown against the Seahawks, I like Russell Wilson and company to extract some revenge for last season’s loss while delivering a message to the Falcons that all roads to Super Bowl 52 in the NFC, will have to go through Seattle. The Seahawks get the win and narrow ATS cover. NFL Betting Pick: Seahawks 28 Falcons 24
