Why Bet the Denver Broncos?
The Broncos went 9-7 last season but missed out on a playoff berth, mostly because they play in the powerful AFC West where both, Oakland and Kansas City won a dozen games in 2016. Following the health-related retirement of former head coach Gary Kubiak, the Broncos hired former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
What Can We Expect from Denver This Week?
For this Week 1 opener, the Broncos will start Trevor Siemian under center with Paxton Lynch, Chad Kelly and Kyle Sloter following. Denver was phenomenal defensively last season in ranking third in points allowed (18.6 ppg), but they’re looking to improve their offensive attack this season after finishing an uninspiring 21st in scoring a year ago (20.8 ppg).
To that end, the Broncos drafted tackle Garrett Bolles in the first round and signed veteran guard Ronald Leary, tackle Menelik Watson and running back Jamaal Charles in free agency while parting ways with veteran tackle Russell Okung, linebacker DeMarcus Ware and most importantly, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

Why Bet the Chicago Bears?
The Bears were a complete mess a year ago and suffered through a league-high 19 players going on the injured reserve list. Chicago went 0-8 on the road for the first time in franchise history and parted ways with longtime quarterback Jay ‘Cry-Baby’ Cutler, forcing him into retirement after no one else wanted to pick up the strong-armed but polarizing signal-caller (until Miami recently signed him).
At any rate, Chicago then got fleeced in the NFL Draft by giving up a couple of picks to San Francisco to move up one spot to take inexperienced North Carolina signal-caller Mitch Trubisky with the second overall pick although the Niners were never going to take him.
How Well Did the Bears Do Last Season?
Chicago ranked a pitiful 29th in scoring last season (17.4 ppg) and equally discouraging 23rd in points allowed (24.9 ppg). Trubisky will see action in this opener after starter Mike Glennon departs with veteran backup Mark Sanchez following.
The Bears parted ways with veteran quarterback Matt Barkley and Brian Hoyer and lost elite wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in free agency this year. Chicago does have a pair of gifted running backs in Jordan Howard and Jeremy Langford but they’re looking for improvements at the wide receiver position, most notably from first round draft pick Kevin White.

Expert Prediction and NFL Preseason Pick
For me, the Denver Broncos are a ‘no-brainer’ of a pick to get it done with ease in this scrimmage opener as their defense overpowers every Bears quarterback except Mike Glennon and both, Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch light up Chicago’s porous defense.
The Broncos are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games while Chicago is 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games. Don’t think twice about backing the Broncos in this one people!
