Early Picks and Predictions for NFL Week 4

Early Picks and Predictions for NFL Week 4

Written by on August 3, 2017

Horrible news for the Houston Texans as the team’s No. 2 receiver, Will Fuller, broke his collarbone in a training camp practice and will miss 2-3 months. That would put Fuller’s return range somewhere in Weeks 5-8. Because Fuller did not open camp on the active/PUP list, he is ineligible for reserve/PUP. Bet your Texans futures accordingly. We take a look at every game for NFL Week 4. But, if you’re also looking to pick out the top games for that week, then you should take a look at our best matchups to bet on in Week 4.

Early Picks and Predictions for NFL Week 4

Thursday, Sept. 28

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (10.5)

The Bears have Mike Glennon at quarterback and the Packers have Aaron Rodgers. Oh, and Chicago just doesn’t win at Lambeau when Rodgers is healthy. ATS Pick: Packers

Sunday, Oct. 1

New Orleans Saints at Miami Dolphins (Pick)

This game kicks off at 9:30 AM ET from Wembley Stadium in London. Did you know that Drew Brees nearly signed with the Dolphins as a free agent before the 2006 season than the Saints? My how things would be different. ATS Pick: Dolphins

Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons (-7.5)

A contrast in styles here. The Bills will run the ball and eat clock. The Falcons will air it out with reigning NFL MVP Matt Ryan. They’ll win but fail to cover in NFL Week 4. ATS Pick: Bills

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens (TBA)

You aren’t going to find any early-season Ravens lines because of the uncertain status of Ravens QB JoeFlacco and his back injury. If he’s healthy, they might be slight home underdogs. ATS Pick: TBA

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns (+3.5)

The Bengals have dominated their northern Ohio neighbors the past few seasons and there’s little reason to suggest things will change in 2017. ATS Pick: Bengals

LA Rams at Dallas Cowboys (-12.5)

Matchup of two great young running backs in Todd Gurley, the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Ezekiel Elliott, who should have won the award last year. Also a matchup of second-year QBs in Jared Goff and Dak Prescott. Dallas will win but too many points. ATS Pick: Rams

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (-3)

That loss of Fuller is going to hurt Houston. The 23-year- old had just 47 catches on 92 targets last year but serves an important function in Bill O’Brien’s offensive scheme. Fuller was drafted in 2016 in large part to take the top off opposing defenses, allowing for star wideout DeAndre Hopkins to pick apart the secondary on medium-range throws. ATS Pick: Titans

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-3)

The Vikings were Green Bay’s main competition in the NFC North in 2015 and the Lions were last year. The winner here likely will be in 2017. ATS Pick: Vikings

Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots (-9)

These teams came close to playing in Super Bowl 50. Of course Carolina got there but lost to Denver, which beat the Patriots in the AFC title game on a last-second stop on a 2-point try. ATS Pick: Panthers Are the Patriots a safe bet against the Panthers in NFL Week 4?

Jacksonville Jaguars at NY Jets (-1)

This might be the only time all season the sorry Jets are favored – and I’m honestly not confident they will be by kickoff. Jacksonville is simply better at nearly every position. ATS Pick: Jaguars

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-9)

The Niners were 0-2 vs. the Cardinals last year, losing 23-20 in the desert as Chandler Catanzaro kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired. This NFL Week 4 matchup won’t be that close. ATS Pick: Cards

Philadelphia Eagles at LA Chargers (-1.5)

The Chargers get their first look at second-year Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz. Running back Ryan Mathews plays against his former team for the first time since moving on to the Eagles in free agency two years ago. That’s if Mathews isn’t cut as he’s dealing with a neck injury. ATS Pick: Chargers

NY Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5)

This could have wild-card implication. Seriously. Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul combined for 15.5 sacks last season and will face a Bucs’ offensive line that surrendered 109 quarterback hits last year, fifth-most in the league. ATS Pick: Bucs

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos (-1)

Oakland would have won the AFC West last season with a victory Week 17 in Denver, but without injured QB Derek Carr the Raiders were dominated 24-6. Oakland’s vastly different with Carr. ATS Pick: Raiders

Top NFL Week 5 Odds, Picks & Predictions

Indianapolis Colts at Seattle Seahawks (-7)

It’s a Sunday night game for NFL Week 4. The Seahawks’ first prime-time matchup of the season features Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck going head to head. Luck was the first overall pick in the 2012 draft. Wilson was taken 75th. ATS Pick: Seahawks

Monday, Oct. 2

Washington Redskins at Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5)

The last time these teams met it signaled the beginning of the end of the Mike Shanahan era with the Redskins, a 35-point Chiefs win in Washington. Chiefs will win again, but by only a touchdown. ATS Pick: Chiefs
