Why Bet On Kansas City?

Kansas City enters Week 6 atop the AFC with that 5-1 record but was upset 19-13 at home by Pittsburgh on Sunday – the last unbeaten to fall. Smith completed 19-of-34 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed four times for 13 yards. The stat line is not pretty, especially considering how well Smith had been playing, but it was even worse most of the game. The Chiefs managed just six total yards in the first half, and they were stuck on three points heading into the fourth quarter. Smith leads the NFL with a 119.2 passer rating and has 12 touchdown passes without an interception this season, tied with Randall Cunningham (12 in 1998) for the most touchdown passes without an interception through a team’s first six games of a season. Kansas City rookie running back Kareem Hunt leads the NFL with 885 scrimmage yards (630 rushing, 255 receiving) and is the only rookie in NFL history with at least 100 scrimmage yards in each of his team’s first six games of a season. Against Pittsburgh, Hunt rushed nine times for 21 yards and hauled in 5-of-6 targets for 89 yards. No. 1 receiver and star return man Tyreek Hill almost broke loose for what may have been a game-winning touchdown on a punt return late in the fourth, but he took a big hit on the sideline at the end of the run which forced him out of the game. He apparently didn’t suffer a concussion but you will want to monitor his status. Hill had five catches for 34 yards on seven targets before leaving the game. Smith hasn’t thrown an interception this season, and the Raiders don’t have a pick. They rank 32nd in the NFL in that category, because the Bears and Dolphins both had an interception on Sunday.

Why Bet On Oakland?

The Las Vegas Raiders have already matched their 2016 regular-season loss total on a four-game skid. They were surprised 17-16 at home by the Chargers on Sunday. Nick Novak kicked a 32-yard field goal on the final play of the game and the Chargers took advantage of a key missed extra point by Giorgio Tavecchio. The Raiders had taken the lead on a 47-yard end-around by Cordarrelle Patterson but that and the return of Carr weren’t enough to end this slide. Oakland last lost four in a row during an 0-10 start in 2014.  Carr, who missed last week’s game with a broken bone in his back, threw for just 171 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown. Michael Crabtree had a touchdown catch in the loss. Crabtree is tied for third in the NFL with five touchdown catches this season and has 22 touchdown receptions since 2015, tied for the third-most in the league over that span. Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack, who had a sack and a forced fumble in the last meeting, has 30 sacks since 2015, the most in the NFL over that span. Are the Raiders a safe betting pick in Week 7? A whopping 70 percent (20 of 31) of Carr’s passes went five yards or fewer vs. KC, the highest such percentage in a game in his four-year career. And over a span of 21 throws, Carr was 16-of-21, but had only 106 yards and five first downs while throwing an interception. Plus, he attempted only three passes that went 15 or more yards downfield with one completion for 15 yards. For the season, Carr is just 7-of-16 for 185 yards, three TDs and two INTs on passes thrown 15 or more yards downfield. It is the first four-game losing streak for the Raiders since they dropped 16 straight from Week 12 of the 2013 season to Week 11 of the 2014 season. Yes, when they beat the Chiefs on a rainy Thursday night in Oakland for Carr’s first career victory.
