Halfway through the NFL Season, it isn’t clear which AFC teams will secure playoff spots by winning their divisions or grabbing wildcards. No AFC team leads their division by more than 2 games.

NFL Halfway Through the Season AFC Predictions

AFC East Pick | Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins two losses this season have come at Buffalo and at Philadelphia. The Bills, aren’t  dominating the way they were in the first month.

Miami has a tough second half schedule. The Chiefs, Cowboys, Ravens, the Jets twice, and the Titans are lock victories. But the Dolphins appear to be getting better every week. So the Fins get the nod to win the AFC East.

AFC North Pick | Cincinnati Bengals

Most feel the Baltimore Ravens win the division, but the Ravens are just a game ahead of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati in the division.

The reason to like Joe Burrow and his mates is that Cincy has won 3-of-4 and is on a 3-game winning streak. The Bengals also head to NFL Week 9 after their best performance of the season, a 31-17 road victory over NFC power San Francisco.

AFC West Pick | Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City has a 2-games lead over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers may not even be the second best team in the AFC West.

Denver throttled KC this past Sunday in a 24-9 Broncos’ victory. However, KC should only lose 3 more games, which would put them at 12-5 for the season. There’s no way the Bolts, Raiders, or Broncos catch the Chiefs.

AFC South Pick | Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville is on a 5-game winning streak. The Jaguars shouldn’t run the table because the Niners, the Texans twice, the Bengals, and the Ravens remain on the schedule.

However, the Jaguars will compete with all of those teams. Jacksonville’s offense and defense are playing at an ultra-high level. So no matter what happens, the Jags win the South.

AFC Wildcards

Tennessee Titans
The Titans have a relatively easy road to the playoffs. The Titans face the Texans twice, the Panthers, the Buccaneers, the Steelers, and the Colts. So even if Tennessee loses to Seattle and the Jaguars twice, the Titans have a great shot of finishing the season 10-7.

Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens should lose 4 more games: versus the Seahawks, Bengals, Jaguars, and possibly the 49ers. If that happens, Baltimore will finish 11-6

New York Jets
The Jets have a better shot of securing a wildcard than Buffalo because the Bills’ schedule is ridiculously hard. The Jets’ schedule isn’t even close to Buffalo’s.

J-E-T-S should beat the Chargers, Raiders, Falcons, Texans, Commanders, Browns, and Patriots. That’s 7 wins, which would mean NYJ ends the season with a 10-7 record.

Predicted AFC Playoffs Seedings

1. Jacksonville Jaguars
2. Miami Dolphins
3. Kansas City Chiefs
4. Cincinnati Bengals
5. Baltimore Ravens
6. New York Jets
7. Tennessee Titans

Analysis: Jacksonville plays in a worse division than the Dolphins or Chiefs. So the Jags end up with the best record in the AFC.

Either KC or Miami could secure the second seed, but there’s a good chance Kansas City loses to Miami in their matchup on Nov 5. Miami is playing better football and Denver exposed KC’s defense in NFL Week 8.

The Bengals will struggle to beat the Ravens and win the AFC North. The two teams, just like last season, will face off in the first round in the playoffs.

The Jets and Titans are winning because of good defense and strong rushing attacks. The Titans may have found a legit starter in Will Levis. So Tennessee and NYJ could switch seeds.
