So far so good for the Philadelphia Eagles under new coach Doug Pederson as they are the only 2-0 team this preseason in the NFC East. They travel to Indianapolis on Saturday night as the 1-1 Colts play their final home preseason game. They are favored in online NFL betting.

Philadelphia vs Indianapolis Historic Betting Trends

The contest will mark the 21st all-time preseason meeting between the teams, as the overall series is tied, 10-10. In their preseason matchup last season, Indianapolis fell to Philadelphia, 36-10. That feels forever ago because Tim Tebow played in that game for Philly and threw for 69 yards and ran for a touchdown in his first game in two years. Of course now he’s trying to become a baseball player. Kenjon Barner returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown and ran for a score for Philly. Quarterback Andrew Luck was 5 of 6 for 43 yards for the Colts. These teams last played in the regular season in Week 2 of 2014 and the Colts lost 30-27 at home. Nick Foles threw a tying touchdown pass with 3:25 to go, and then set up Cody Parkey for the winning 36-yard field goal as time expired. Foles is now in Kansas City. Darren Sproles had seven receptions for 152 yards to go along with a touchdown run for Philly. The Colts led 17-6 at halftime, but committed two costly turnovers in the second half that the Eagles turned into 14 second-half points. Luck was 20-for- 34 for 172 yards and three TDs.

Why Bet Philadelphia?

That Philly defense has allowed just nine points so far! The Eagles threw a shutout in Pittsburgh last week in a 17-0 victory. Nolan Carroll’s 38-yard interception return for a score was the lone touchdown of the first half. The Eagles defense now has nine takeaways this preseason. Sam Bradford led Philadelphia’s offense to a field goal late in the first half, giving the Eagles a 10-0 lead at the break. He finished 14 of 19 for 115 yards. This should be the Philly debut of two players. New Eagles receiver Dorial Green-Beckham says he is getting some looks with the first team. Pederson will have a small package of plays for him Saturday against the Colts as he eases into the system. DGB was recently acquired in trade from Tennessee. The Eagles have remained very high on rookie running back Wendell Smallwood despite the fact that he has not played in the first two preseason games due to a quad injury. He should also play here considering he nearly did last week. We won’t again see QB Carson Wentz, the No.2 overall pick in this year’s draft, as he’s still recovering from a hairline fracture in his rib. Wentz’s debut against Tampa Bay provided Eagles fans with a glimpse of Wentz’s physical yet agile brand of play on multiple occasions. He didn’t shy away from contact either, taking a few hard hits throughout the course of the game before ultimately sustaining the injury in the third quarter. Wentz is hopeful to play the preseason finale.

Why Bet Indianapolis?

The Colts won their preseason opener at Buffalo by a point but then lost last week at home by a point to Baltimore. Luck started the game and completed all eight of his passing attempts for 71 yards. Backup quarterbacks Scott Tolzien (13-of- 18 passing for 107 yards) and Stephen Morris (7-of- 11 passing for 66 yards) each threw a touchdown as the trio combined to complete 28-of- 37 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. The Colts added to their secondary this week in signing veteran Antonio Cromartie. They needed secondary help with Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis out with a right ankle sprain. There isn’t an official timetable on Davis return, but he’ll likely miss some games during the regular season. He is wearing a blue cast on his right foot. Other Colts injured are defensive linemen Kendall Langford and Henry Anderson, safety Clayton Geathers, offensive linemen Hugh Thornton and Joe Haeg and linebacker Sio Moore. There’s optimism that Langford will be back for Week 1 after having knee surgery two weeks ago. Anderson, who just came off the physically unable to perform list Monday, might be not ready at the start of the regular season. Ditto Geathers.

My Free Pick

I will predict a 19-18 score — well not really. But that has been the result of the Colts first two preseason games. Go Indy in online NFL betting here and the under.
