Why Bet on the New York Giants +2.5 Points

The New York Giants (6-10 SU, 8-7-1 ATS) don’t look like a very good pick in this contest for several reasons. New York is coming off a dismal 27-10 loss against the Miami Dolphins, in Week 1 that saw backup quarterback Ryan Nassib throw two interceptions while completing seven of 15 passes for just 75 yards. Young receivers Sterling Shepard and Geremy Davis combined for 45 receiving yards on three catches and the G-Men averaged a solid 4.9 yards per carry in the loss with Andre Williams rushing for 41 yards on nine carries. Defensively, the Giants allowed Miami backup Matt Moore to complete 11 of 14 passes for 122 yards with one touchdown and one interception. B.J. Goodson led the Giants with eight tackles while Greg Milhouse added one sack and Jonathan Casillas, two pass deflections.

Why Bet on Buffalo -2.5 Points

The Bills (8-8 SU, 8-7-1 ATS) look like a good pick because they’re playing at home against a defenseless opponent. Buffalo is coming off heartbreaking 19-18 loss against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed 2 of 3 passes after recently signing a huge extension with the Bills. Rookie signal-caller Cardale Jones looked solid in completing 11 of 21 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown while veteran backup E.J. Manuel completed 10 of 18 passes for 91 yards and one score. Jonathan Williams rushed eight times for 44 yards in the loss and the Bills ground game averaged 4.5 yards per carry. Walter Powell has four catches for 88 yards while Jarrett Boykin and Chris Gragg both added touchdown receptions. Defensively, Buffalo allowed Colts backup Scott Tolzien to complete 12 of 23 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown while younger backup Stephen Morris to complete 5 of 9 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown. Preston Brown led the Bills with four tackles, David Hawthorne had one tackle for loss and Duke Williams had two pass deflections.

Expert Prediction and Betting Pick

The Giants are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games, but the Buffalo Bills are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games. The road team is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings, but for me, the Bills are the easy pick at home because they’re the only team in this matchup that plays any sort of competent defense. Both Eli Manning and Tyrod Taylor will play a bit more in this matchup, but when this Week 2 affair goes to the backups, the Bills have the huge edge. Buffalo wins and covers the spread against a Giants team that looked awful in allowing mediocre Miami to put up 27 points in their preseason opener.

My Pick: Buffalo 28 NY Giants 21
