Why Bet on Baltimore +3 Points

Because the Ravens are going to be lot better in 2016 than most people think! Baltimore 5-11 SU, 5-9-2 ATS) picked up a solid 22-19 win over Carolina in Week 1 as backup quarterback Ryan Mallett completed 11 of 15 passes for 91 yards with one touchdown and one interceptions while third string signal-caller Josh Johnson went 8-or-11 for 93 yards. Kenneth Dixon led the Ravens’ rushing attack with 44 yards on nine carries while wide receiver Darren Walker and Jeremy Butler each had five catches to lead Baltimore Ravens’ passing attack. Defensively the Ravens recorded three sacks and a fumble recovery. Matt Judon led Baltimore’s defensive effort with seven tackles and one sack.

Why Bet on Indianapolis -3 Points

Indianapolis (8-8 SU, 8-8 ATS) looks like a good bet because they’re playing at home against a Baltimore team that basically wants to get out of this affair uninjured. Colts backup Scott Tolzien led Indy to a hard-fought 19-18 win over Buffalo in Week 1 by completing 12 of 23 passes for 140 yards and one touchdown while younger backup Stephen Morris to complete 5 of 9 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown. Morris also led the Colts in rushing with 19 yards on three carries though no Indianapolis running back averaged even a yard per carry with Josh Ferguson at 0.4, Trey Williams at 0.7, and Robert Turbin at 0.5. Defensively, Indianapolis got team-high 10 tackles from Edwin Jackson and four tackles apiece from Lee Hightower and Curt Maggitt.

Expert Prediction and Betting Pick

Indianapolis is 25-10-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games and a near-perfect 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games against Baltimore. The Ravens are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against teams from the AFC. While the favorite in this rivalry has covered the point spread in six of the last seven meetings of these two teams, my pick for this Week 2 affair is a play for the Over. I don’t think either one of these teams will be elite defensively in 2016 and with both starting quarterbacks playing in this contest after sitting out their respective Week 1 preseason contests, I expect both teams to top the 20-point plateau while Indy gets the narrow home win.

My Pick: Indianapolis 24 Baltimore 21
