Are the Patriots a safe bet in NFL Week 2?

Updated Super Bowl LI Winning Predictions

Written by on October 24, 2016

We are now 7 weeks into the NFL season, and some clear betting odds favorites to win Super Bowl LI have emerged. There have also been a few dark horses, such as the Oakland Raiders, who have shown that they might well have what it takes to win a title at much longer odds. We are going to take a look at the current odds, but keep in mind that these are likely to change again several times in the coming weeks. There are going to be teams who falter down the stretch, and others who get hot or hit by an injury bug. All of that aside, let’s take a look at the updated Super Bowl 51 lines.

Updated Super Bowl LI Winning Predictions

New England Patriots Super Bowl LI Odds: +230

The New England Patriots managed to go 3-1 in the opening 4 weeks without Tom Brady, and have now put together a 3-0 record with him back under center. Brady has looked magnificent in those 3 games, although he didn’t get a ton of joy in Week 7 versus a Steelers team that was playing without Ben Roethlisberger. Given how that game went, you would have to believe that a full-strength Steelers team might be the biggest obstacle for the Patriots in the AFC.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl LI Odds: +500

The Seahawks are once again proving to be very tough to beat, and are once again putting on a bit of a defensive clinic. If this team can get home field advantage through the playoffs, they are going to be very dangerous. Seattle is 3-0 at home this season, and have once again made Qwest Field something of a fortress. They do have some question marks on offense, but when you can shut teams down as they can, you don’t need to put a lot of points on the board.

Green Bay Packers Super Bowl LI Odds:  +750

It is going to be interesting to see how the 4-2 Packers respond to the injury to Eddie Lacey in the coming weeks. It’s also going to be fun to watch what they do on the road the rest of the way. 4 of their first 6 games have been played at home, which means they will have some traveling ahead of them in the coming weeks. They are going to have to run down the Vikings and win the division if they want to be playing at Lambeau in the postseason.

Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl LI Odds: +800

This team went 5-0 to start the season, and appeared to be doing things with a little bit of smoke and mirrors. They have already had more injures than most, and had to swing a trade in order to get a serviceable QB in Sam Bradford to lead the way. All of this seemed to catch up with the Vikings in a Week 7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but as long as the defense continues to deliver, this team should still be playoffs bound. Those are the current favorites right now, but I am still looking outside of this group for the Super Bowl winner. I picked the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1200) at the start of the season, and I am staying with that pick. If they can stay healthy, they are going to be tough to knock off.
