NFL Washington At Baltimore Week 5 Winning Predictions

Written by on October 8, 2016

The Baltimore Ravens will look to bounce back from their Week 4 loss while avoiding the upset against a Washington Redskins team that is looking to win its third straight game. Now, let’s find out which team is offering the most value in this intriguing Week 5 matchup.

A Closer Look At The NFL Redskins At Ravens Week 5 Winning Predictions

When: Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: M&T Bank Stadium TV: FOX Live Stream: FOX Sports GO NFL Odds: Baltimore Ravens -3.5 / Over/Under: 46.5

Bet The Washington Redskins at +3.5 Because…

The Washington Commanders match up well against the Ravens and are finding ways to win. Washington (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) is coming off a solid, but not overly convincing, 31-20 win over Cleveland in Week 4 while covering the spread as a 7.5-point favorite. For the season, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins is completing an impressive 66.2 percent of his passes for 1,172 yards with six touchdowns, but four mostly costly interceptions. Receivers, Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson have combined for 506 receiving yards and three touchdowns while unheralded wideout Jamison Crowder has recorded a team-high 18 receptions. Running back Matt Jones leads the team with 267 yards and two touchdowns, but Washington is allowing a whopping 28.0 points per game to rank 26th in points allowed.

Bet The Baltimore Ravens at -3.5 Because…

They have the huge edge at quarterback and head coach and are playing at home. Baltimore (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) suffered its first loss of the season by falling to Oakland 28-27 in a thriller while failing to cover the NL betting line as 3.5-point favorites. For the season, veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco is completing a solid 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,072 yards with four touchdowns, but has also thrown four untimely interceptions. Veteran wide receivers Steve Smith and Mike Wallace have combined for 491 receiving yards and four touchdowns while tight end Dennis Pitta has caught a team-high 21 passes. Running back Terrance West has rushed for a team-high 232 yards and one touchdown and the Ravens are limiting their opponents to just 18 points per game to rank seventh in points allowed.

Bet The Baltimore Ravens at -3.5 Because…

While Washington has won two straight, their victories came over pair of mediocre teams in the Giants and Browns, so I’m not real impressed to say the least. Having said that, with Baltimore coming off a loss, playing at home and having the far better defense in this matchup, I believe the Ravens are offering far more value in this Week 5 contest than Washington.

Expert Prediction and Pick

While the Redskins have gone 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, the Skins are also just 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record. I know the Ravens are 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 home games, but the majority of this misleading trend came last season when Flacco was injured. Not only is Baltimore 4-2 ATS in their last six games, but more importantly, the Ravens have excellent players at the skill positions and should be able to have their way against a Skins defense that has been mostly non-existent this season.

My Pick: Baltimore 28 Washington 21
