2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Losers

Written by on August 20, 2018

When it comes to the upcoming slate of the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3, you can bet your sweet buns that there’s value to be found – by looking for sure losers! That’s right NFL Betting enthusiasts. Just like looking for winners, identifying teams that look like sure losers can also a profitable method of making winning wagers. With that thought in mind, I’ve got a trio of teams that all look like they’re going to have major struggles trying to beat their respective Week 3 opponents. With the start of a new week here, let’s get down to business.

2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Losers

Tennessee Titans (0-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)

Tennessee got smacked around by Tampa Bay in their 30-14 Week 2 preseason loss on Saturday. The Titans haven’t scored over 17 points in either of their preseason games while allowing over 30 points defensively in each game. While Pittsburgh lost their Week 2 preseason game to Green Bay 51-34, the Steelers have also topped the 30-point plateau in both of their scrimmage games. With the Steelers playing their four offensive stars of Roethlisberger, Bell, Brown, and Schuster-Smith, Tennessee’s defense will almost surely give up another 30 points or more. While the NFL odds for this contest haven’t been posted yet, I like the Steelers to get the confidence-boosting win that comes by at least a touchdown. Pittsburgh is a surprising 1-4 SU and ATS over their last five home preseason games, but Tennessee has dropped three straight road scrimmage games while going 0-3 ATS along the way. Right now, Tennessee is still in a learning phase on both sides of the ball after firing head coach Mike Mularkey after back-to-back 9-7 campaigns in favor of first-time head coach Mike Vrabel. Pick: Tennessee Titans 21 – Pittsburgh Steelers 35

Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at Miami Dolphins (0-2)

Still, ahead of their Week 2 road date at Indianapolis, the Baltimore Ravens have looked mostly fantastic this preseason and moved to 2-0 by blowing the Los Angeles Rams out of the water in their 33-7 Week 1 scrimmage stunner. Baltimore has gotten some eye-opening play from returning veteran quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Dolphins look like a team in for a very long 2018 in my expert opinion. Miami lost their preseason opener 28-24 at home against Tampa Bay and followed that up with a 27-20 road loss to Carolina on Friday. The Dolphins got a good effort from all of their quarterbacks, but none managed to throw a touchdown pass while going a combined 1 for 4 in the red zone. The odds for this Week 3 matchup may not be released yet, but I don’t think it’s going to matter much anyway. I’m going with the Baltimore Ravens to get the momentum-building win against a Miami Dolphins team they are better than at pretty much everything. Not only are the Ravens better on both sides of the ball, but they’ve also got the edge in coaching and maturation as well. Joe Flacco will be looking to play well in what the Ravens are expected to be an improved offense in 2018. Robert Griffin II will also be looking to continue his eye-opening return to the NFL and rookie Lamar Jackson will be looking to continue improving in an effort to get some playing time as quickly as possible. Pick: Baltimore Ravens 30 – Miami Dolphins 21

Arizona Cardinals (2-0) at Dallas Cowboys (0-2)

Arizona has looked pretty good in two preseason games under first-time head coach Steve Wilks. After beating the Chargers 24-17 in Week 1, the Cardinals got past New Orleans 20-15 on Friday. Veteran quarterback Sam Bradford was a perfect 6 for 6, but rookie Josh Rosen went 10 for 16 for 107 yards and one touchdown and continued to look like a guy ready to challenge for the starter’s spot right now. Josh Rosen and the Cardinals are not favorites for the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 against the Cowboys. Dallas fell to 0-2 by losing to Cincinnati 21-13 on Saturday one week after losing to San Francisco 24-21 in their scrimmage season opener. The good news is that Dak Prescott played well in going 10 of 15 for 86 yards and one touchdown even though Elliott sat out of the affair. I know the Arizona Cardinals have looked good so far this preseason while Dallas has not, but the Cowboys will be in the semi-desperation mode in this Week 3 conference clash and I believe they’re really going to go for the confidence-boosting win behind their starters. I’m thinking Ezekiel Elliott to get at least 10 carries while Dak Prescott throws the ball to everyone not named Dez Bryant. Keep it simple NFL betting aficionados, Dallas is semi-desperate, they’re playing at home and they’ve still got a pair of young stars that most franchises would kill to have. Dallas has won four of their last five preseason home games and five of their last seven while going 3-3-1 ATS along the way. Pick: Arizona Cardinals 21 – Dallas Cowboys 27
