NFL Week 2 Over/Under Betting Picks

NFL Week 2 Over/Under Betting Picks

Written by on September 10, 2018

It was a typical week in the NFL in Week 1 of the season, with some teams looking explosive on the offensive side of the football, while others struggled to gain any sort of traction on offense. It is just 1 week, though, which is why we need to look back at previous meetings between the NFL Week 2 combatants to see if there is some sort of point total trend to draw on. We are going to pick out 4 games that we like as point total wagers and will be doing the same with SU and ATS picks, which we will have in separate articles.

NFL Week 2 Over/Under Betting Picks

Cleveland Browns vs New Orleans Saints (OVER 50)

Fans of the Cleveland Browns must be wondering what they need to do to get a win. They had 6 turnovers at home versus the Steelers in Week 1, including a huge one in OT that put them in FG range. Despite all that, they still failed to get the win, settling for a tie instead. The Saints got sucked into a shootout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, losing 48-40 in one of the biggest surprises of the opening week. The last 15 games that the Browns have played on the road has seen the OVER hit 11 times, while the Saints have seen the OVER come up in 5 of their last 6 home games. I think we get a lot of points here and go OVER quite easily.

New England Patriots vs Jacksonville Jaguars (UNDER 45)

This is certainly going to be one to watch, as it will be a rematch of the AFC Championship Game from last season, a game that the Jaguars lost in the dying seconds. Both of these teams got their 2018 season off to a winning start, with the Jaguars once again using their stellar defense to get a 20-15 win over the New York Giants. The last meeting between these two went under, which has been a common trend in their meetings, with the last 10 going 3-6-1 O/U. 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two have gone UNDER, so let’s go that route again.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (OVER 44)

Are the Eagles a safe bet in NFL Week 2?The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles saw their season get off to a winning start with an 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons. While the UNDER hit in that one, it was more to do with the inability of the Falcons to take advantage of their red zone opportunities. A more efficient team would have run up some points on the Eagles and the Buccaneers proved that they might just be that after dropping 48 points on the Saints in their season opener. Philly have made a habit of going OVER on the road, with 16 of their last 21 trips ending that way.

LA Chargers vs Buffalo Bills (OVER 44)

This is one of those games where the point total trend for one of these teams may be in danger. The LA Chargers have seen all 5 of their last 5 road games fall UNDER, but I think this one may be set to go in a different direction. The Bills were awful in their week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, giving up more points (47) in that one than the total for this game. They are going to have a tough time generating any offense here, but the Chargers may be able to reach the 44 points all on their own.
