3 of 4 underdogs during NFL Wildcard Weekend not only covered the spread, but also beat their favored opponents straight up. This weekend in the NFL Divisional Round, the Chargers, Colts, and Eagles hope to continue rolling through the playoffs. The other wildcard team that won during wildcard weekend, the Cowboys, will face the Rams.
Can the wildcard teams get it done in the NFL Divisional Round? Or, will their higher seeded opponents end their playoff runs?

Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs
- Moneyline Odds: Colts +185, Chiefs -225
On paper, it looks like the Kansas City Chiefs should dominate the Indianapolis Colts. But, the Colts might have the perfect mix to send the Chiefs home without a playoff victory. What’s part of that mix?
Indianapolis has the requisite quarterback to go deep into the playoffs. Andrew Luck is fully healthy and has played like one of the top signal-callers in the NFL in the second half of the season. The Colts also have a bruising offensive line that can control the Chiefs’ pass rush.
Kansas City might have to rely on Patrick Mahomes too much in this game. Colts offer great odds to beat KC straight up. They’re worth backing after seeing how they so easily disposed of the Texans last Saturday.
NFL Divisional Round Pick: Indianapolis Colts
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams
- Moneyline Odds: Cowboys +245, Rams -305
The Cowboys have a real shot to beat the Rams on the moneyline because Dallas does a couple of things that’s important to playoff success: they play great defense and rush the ball well. The Boys will move the football against the Rams.
The Rams, though, have the one thing that Dallas can’t counter, Sean McVay. Los Angeles’ head coach has called the right play at the right time this entire season. The Rams aren’t the most talented team on both sides of the ball. McVay gets them to play like the most talented team, though.
Rams will pull out a squeaker of a victory.
NFL Divisional Round Pick: Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, Jan. 13
L.A. Chargers at New England Patriots
- Moneyline Odds: Chargers +170, Patriots -205
Los Angeles easily handled the Baltimore Ravens for most of the game. The Chargers didn’t put away the Ravens until late, though. More importantly, Los Angeles appeared to have trouble stopping Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The Patriots should be well-rested and ready to beat the Chargers on Sunday. Los Angeles will try to keep pace. It’s hard to see them doing that. New England won’t melt down during the game, which means if Los Angeles gets behind early, the game might be over.
The Patriots are the pick even though it might seem attractive to call for the upset.
NFL Divisional Round Pick: New England Patriots
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints
- Moneyline Odds: Eagles +285, Saints -370
Philadelphia was all out to beat the Chicago Bears in their stunning 16-15 wildcard win. Now, Philly must take on New Orleans in the Superdome. The Saints are almost impossible to beat at home. Not only that, but Bears’ field goal kicker Cody Parkey missed a last second attempt to win the game that allowed Philly to pull off the upset.
New Orleans should hit the field with a ton of energy. They offer no value, but it’s hard to see the Eagles pulling out another road win against a top opponent.
