2019 NFL Week 13 Parlay Betting Picks

Written by on November 26, 2019

Two pieces of good news for NFL fans in Week 13. The first is that there are three games on Thursday this week because it’s of course the Thanksgiving holiday. The second is that every team plays in NFL Week 13 because the bye weeks are finished for this season. Here are two games we would recommend ATS and to parlay together on your NFL Betting ticket.

2019 NFL Week 13 Parlay Betting Picks

NY Jets vs Cincinnati Bengals (+4)

The Bengals are the NFL’s lone winless team but played better this past Sunday in 16-10 home loss to Pittsburgh. However, in typical Bengals luck the team lost guard Alex Redmond to a season-ending torn bicep muscle. Redmond wasn’t even hurt during the game but in pregame warmups.

The 0-11 start is the worst in franchise history for Cincinnati. The Bengals have lost 13 straight games dating back to last season, which is also the longest losing streak in franchise history.

Ryan Finley started Sunday’s loss by completing four of his first five passes. But after that, the rookie struggled. Finley was 12-of-26 for 192 yards, one touchdown and one lost fumble. He has committed five turnovers in his three games since taking over for veteran Andy Dalton. During that stretch, he has completed only 47.1% of his passes.

First-year coach Zac Taylor is returning Dalton to the starting role for this game. The switch comes as somewhat of a surprise after Taylor appeared to indicate that three games was too short of a window to evaluate a rookie quarterback. When Taylor made the switch to Finley after the Bengals’ Week 8 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London, part of the reasoning was to evaluate Finley as long as possible as the franchise prepares for the 2020 draft.

In eight starts this year, Dalton completed 60.4% of his passes for 2,252 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. Dalton is second in franchise history in passing yards (30,352) and is tied with Ken Anderson for the most passing touchdowns (197).

What about the Jets?

What has gotten into the Jets? They were 1-7 but have won three straight games and scored exactly 34 points in each. Sunday it was a 34-3 upset of the Raiders. Sam Darnold threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score. Darnold was 20 of 29 for 315 yards — the fourth 300-yard game of his career — with TDs to Robby Anderson and Ryan Griffin. The Jets didn’t punt until the 2-minute mark of the third quarter. Over the Jets’ past three games, Darnold has thrown seven touchdowns and only one interception.

When the Jets’ record dropped to 1-7, the outside noise was so loud that CEO Christopher Johnson felt compelled to give coach Adam Gase a vote of confidence.

New England Patriots vs Houston Texans (+3)

Could be a playoff preview in the AFC and is the Sunday night game. In Sunday’s 13-9 win over Dallas, Matthew Slater blocked a punt for the Patriots in the first quarter. New England has blocked three punts in 2019, tied for the second-most in a team’s first 11 games of a season since 1990. Only the 1990 Kansas City Chiefs (five) had more.

The Patriots won their 18th straight regular season home game, tying for the second longest home winning streak in team history. The Patriots have won 21 straight home games including the postseason to match the longest streak in team history. The 21-straight home wins including the postseason are tied for the third longest streak in NFL history. The Patriots are the only team with two 20-game home winning streaks, including the postseason.

The 2019 Patriots have a +183 point differential through the first 11 games of the season, which ranks fifth-best (through the first 11 games of the season) during the Super Bowl era (since 1966). The Patriots have allowed 117 points in 2019 through 11 games. Since the NFL moved to a 16-game schedule, only seven teams have allowed under 200 points in a season. The Patriots’ 117 points allowed through the first 11 games are fewer than any of those seven teams through the first 11 games.

The Patriots are favorites for NFL Week 13 against the Texans.

The NFL record for fewest points in a 16-game season was the 2000 Baltimore Ravens, who allowed 165 total points. Of the Patriots 117 points allowed this season, 28 points were scored on opponent turnovers returned for touchdowns (one interception and three fumbles returned for touchdowns).

What about the Texans?

Houston beat Indianapolis 20-17 last Thursday to take over first in the AFC South. The teams had the same 6-4 record coming into the game, but Indianapolis held the tiebreaker because the Colts beat the Texans in Week 7. With Thursday’s victory, the Texans have a 74% chance to win the division; that number would have fallen to 20% with a loss.

Deshaun Watson completed 19-of-30 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. DeAndre Hopkins caught 6-of-9 targets for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Hopkins had two touchdown catches in his previous nine games entering Thursday. He and Watson have combined for 24 touchdowns since Watson’s rookie season of 2017, which trails only Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown (26) for the most in that span.

Expert NFL Week 13 Betting Picks

We like both underdogs in a parlay, but we will buy a half-point on Houston to get the Texans at +3.5.
