Every week of the NFL season is great, bit there is something a little extra special about Thanksgiving Day week. Perhaps it’s because that most of us get the day off and now get to watch no less than three football games wedged in between mouthfuls of turkey and mashed potatoes. While it may be fin for bettors and football fans, it’s all business for the teams looking to stay alive in the hunt for the playoffs.

Time is running out on the regular season, so wind and losses always seem that much bigger at this time of year. We have some big games set to go in Week 13, so let’s look ahead and make some NFL Betting picks. Chicago Bears over Detroit Lions

The NFC North has turned into a 2-horse race between the Packers and the Vikings, which has left the Bears and the Lions out in the cold. Neither of these two are going to be part of the playoff picture, but the Bears look the more likely to finish strong.

Chicago is coming off a win in Week 12, while the Lions continue to struggle with the injured Matthew Stafford in the lineup. The Bears took out the Lions 20-13 when they met earlier this season, and while they have had limited success in Detroit in recent years, I think they pull out the road win here.

Tennessee Titans over Indianapolis Colts

We are going to be keeping an eye on all the playoff races as we head down the homestretch of the NFL season, but we will be paying particular attention to the NFC South. There is a great battle going on there right now, with the Texans holding a slender lead over both the Titans and the Colts.

It will be Tennessee and Indianapolis who hook up this week, with the Titans coming in on a solid 2-game winning streak where the offense has looked fantastic. I think they can go on the road and take advantage of a slumping Colts team that has lost 3 of their last 4 games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Jacksonville Jaguars

When it becomes clear that a team is not going to get anywhere near the playoffs, there are a couple of different ways that they can react. Some teams pack it in early and go through the motions, while others battle to the end, trying to save some pride from the season.

The Bucs are favorites for NFL Week 13.

With 3 losses in a row, the Jaguars are increasingly looking like a team waiting for the season to end. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed that they are still up for it, winning 2 of their last 3 games. I like the Bucs to go on the road and come away with the win.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Cleveland Browns

This may not be the biggest or most important game on the schedule in Week 13, but it’s one that you can bet everyone will be keeping an eye on. It has been less than 2 weeks since the Myles Garret helmet-swinging incident and tempers are still high in Pittsburgh.

Ironically enough, Mason Rudolph, the man on the receiving end of the swing, may not start this one, but that won’t matter. Look for the Steelers to establish home field and come out with a gritty display on their way to a revenge victory.
