2019 NFL Week 16 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on December 16, 2019

Just when we think we have the playoff races figured out, we get thrown another curveball, just like the one we saw in Week 15. The San Francisco 49ers looked like a sure bet to land one of the top two seeds in the NFC after a huge win against the Saints last weekend, but that is all up in the air after their inexplicable home loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Saints will now get a shot at moving into one of those top two seeds with a win on Monday night.

This has been one of the more unpredictable NFL Betting seasons in recent memory, but that won’t stop us trying to predict how things might go in Week 16, so let’s get the ball rolling with some ATS picks.

2019 NFL Week 16 ATS Betting Picks

Houston Texans (-1 ½) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This may well prove to be the week when the Houston Texans go out and clinch the AFC South. They took control of the division with a win over the Titans in Week 15, and with Tennessee set to face New Orleans this coming weekend, a win here might do it for Houston.

The Texans are a team that has thrived on the road, at least in terms of the point spread, covering in 5 of their last 7 games away from home. On the flipside, the Buccaneers are a rather miserable 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 games versus teams from the AFC South.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

  • Texans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on the road
  • Buccaneers are 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 games played in December

Buffalo Bills (+6 ½) at New England Patriots in NFL Week 16

Both of these teams can relax a little heading into Week 16 of the season, as both have already clinched a playoff spot. That makes this one a little tougher to predict, especially since the division is all done and dusted.

For these two, it’s all about making sure that they get through the final 2 weeks of the season without picking up injuries that could potentially have a negative impact on their playoff hopes. While the Bills have not had a lot of jot against the Patriots of late, they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games. I think they keep this one close enough to cover.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

  • Bills are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against an opponent in the AFC East division
  • Patriots are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games played on a Saturday

Baltimore Ravens (-10) at Cleveland Browns

It has been a stellar year for the Baltimore Ravens, who look poised to land the #1 seed in the AFC. The question now is how much of the field that Lamar Jackson sees in the final 2 weeks of the season, as the last thing the Ravens need is their QB going down in a game that is essentially meaningless.

The Ravens are huge favorites against the Browns in NFL Week 16.

He will certainly start this one against a Cleveland Browns team going out of this season on a rather sour note. The Ravens are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games and are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 visits to Cleveland.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

  • Ravens are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against an opponent in the AFC conference
  • Browns are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games when playing at home against Baltimore

Kansas City Chiefs (-5) at Chicago Bears in NFL Week 16

With a loss to the Green Bay Packers over the weekend, the Chicago Bears were officially eliminated from playoff contention. While the Bears have been much better over the past few weeks, their good run of form came a little too late.

They will head into Week 16 with the high-flying Kansas City Chiefs coming to town, with KC very much in the hunt for an opening round bye. The Chiefs have covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 games and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 visits to Chicago.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

  • Chiefs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games this season
  • Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games when playing at home against Kansas City
