2019 NFL Week 2 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on September 9, 2019

There are a pair of Monday night games to play before we get a look at every single team in the league, but I believe that we already have enough info to start looking ahead to Week 2. There were a couple of surprises in the opening weekend, as well as a couple of big markers laid down by teams who already look serious about having a stellar season.

The defending champions New England Patriots may have been the pick of the bunch, although the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans both came up with statement wins. We are going to look at a variety of different betting options for NFL Week 2, but let’s get the ball rolling with some ATS picks.

2019 NFL Week 2 Lines & ATS Picks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+6 ½) at Carolina Panthers

Week 2 of the season will begin on Thursday night with a game between a pair of NFC South Division rivals. It was not the ideal start to the season for either of these teams, as both ended up coming out on the losing end in Week 1. The Panthers were perhaps the unluckier of the two teams, losing a close one to the LA Rams in a game where Christian McCaffrey went off in both the run and passing stats.

The Buccaneers went down 17-31 to the 49ers and will have another tough road game here. The thing that swings it in the direction of the Bucs is that the Panthers are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite.

NFL Week 2 Betting Trends

  • Buccaneers are 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games against Carolina
  • Buccaneers are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games played in September
  • Panthers are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games
  • Panthers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games when playing as the favorite

Arizona Cardinals at Baltimore Ravens (-13)

The Ravens may have emerged as the team to beat in the AFC North after a dominant 59-10 win over Miami in Week 1. We should, though, perhaps take that result with a grain of salt, as the Dolphins figure to be one of the worst teams in the league this season.

The Cardinals saw rookie QB Kyler Murray take the reins and deliver a stirring comeback in a 27-27 ties with the Lions in Week 1. This will be a tougher defense for him to handle this time around. Baltimore have made a habit of not covering at home, but I think they do it here.

NFL Week 2 Betting Trends

  • Cardinals are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against Baltimore
  • Cardinals are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against an opponent in the AFC North division
  • Ravens are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games at home
  • Ravens are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games when playing at home against Arizona

Minnesota Vikings (+3) at Green Bay Packers

We have an NFC North battle here featuring a pair of teams coming off of victories in Week 1. The manner of victory for both teams was quite a bit different, though. The Packers went on the road and ground out a 10-3 win over the Chicago Bears. They are going to face a better defense this week, not to mention a much more efficient offense.

The Vikings looked great from top to bottom in their 28-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. I think the Vikings are a great bet at this point spread, which is why I will be all over them this weekend.

NFL Week 2 Betting Trends

  • Vikings are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games when playing on the road against Green Bay
  • Vikings are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games played in September
  • Packers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against an opponent in the NFC North division

Kansas City Chiefs (-9) at Oakland Raiders

We have yet to get out first look at the Raiders this season, with their Week 1 game set to go on Monday night, but the circus there appears to be in full swing. They just lost their biggest playmaker, with Antonio Brown released and on his way to the Patriots, so they could have trouble keeping pace with the firepower that KC brings to the table.

The Chiefs were dominant in a 40-26 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. I like the Chiefs to win and cover in a big way here.

NFL Week 2 Betting Trends

  • Chiefs are 3-5 ATS in their last 7 games
  • Chiefs are 8-0 ATS in their last 7 games played in September
  • Raiders are 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games
  • Raiders are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games played in September
