2019 NFL Week 3 Over/Under Betting Picks

Written by on September 16, 2019

Every team in the NFL goes out of their way to ensure that their key personnel make it out of preseason with getting hurt. Some teams even go as far as making their starting QB sit out the 4 games played in preseason. Whether that’s a good idea or not is always up for debate, but the reality is that you cannot protect players once the real action begins. Just ask the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have now lost QB Ben Roethlisberger for the season with an elbow injury that will require surgery.

There is likely to be more of these injury issues to come for every team, so always be sure to check the injury reports before you wager. Now, let’s look ahead to Week 3 and some O/U NFL betting picks that we like.

2019 NFL Week 3 Over/Under Betting Picks

Denver Broncos at Green Bay Packers (UNDER 43 ½)

Since Peyton Manning hung up his pads and headed off into the sunset, the Denver Broncos have had a terrible time rebuilding their offense. They picked up QB Joe Flacco in the offseason, but the results have not been what they would have hoped, with the Broncos starting 0-2 and managing just 15 PPG through the opening 2 weeks.

While the Packers are a perfect 2-0, their offensive output has been equally dismal. They are working on a new system, and while they looked goof for one quarter in a win over the Vikings, it has been heavy sledding for the most part.

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Denver’s last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Green Bay’s last 6 games played in week 3

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs (OVER 55)

Very few people are probably that surprised to see the Kansas City Chiefs off to a 2-0 start, with Patrick Mahomes picking up where he left off last year. What may be a little more surprising is just how good Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has been through the opening 2 weeks of the season.

Baltimore is a team that is traditionally known for playing great defensive football, but with a double threat like Jackson, that script has been flipped. In their last 7 games versus teams from the AFC, the Ravens have seen the point total go OVER.

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Baltimore’s last 8 games when playing on the road against Kansas City
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Kansas City’s last 7 games played on a Sunday

Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles (UNDER 48)

The Detroit Lions are probably still a little annoyed at not being 2-0 heading into Week 3. They gave up a lead in their season opener versus the Arizona Cardinals, a game that ended in a tie. The defense stayed tight in Week 2, with the Lions picking up a 13-10 win over the Chargers.

Lions vs Eagles total should go under in NFL Week 3.

The Eagles are 1-1 SU and ATS through the opening 2 weeks of the season. The UNDER has hit in 5 of their last 6 games versus an NFC North opponent, while the Detroit Lions have seen 8 of their last 9 games overall go UNDER.

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Detroit’s last 7 games against an opponent in the NFC conference
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Philadelphia’s last 6 games against Detroit

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals (OVER 45 ½)

If the Arizona Cardinals can ever get their offense rolling right from the first whistle, they could prove to be a legitimate threat to anyone they play. There was an expectation that they would have some teething troubles when starting rookie QB Kyler Murray, but the young man looks ready for the big show, although he is constantly trying to dig his team out of an early hole.

The Panthers might well be the team that Arizona can take advantage of, as they have looked sloppy through the opening 2 weeks. I think we are in for a fun one here with a ton of offense.

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 10 of Carolina’s last 12 games against an opponent in the NFC West division
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Arizona’s last 5 games against Carolina
