2019 NFL Week 4 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on September 23, 2019

We are now, save for the Monday night game, 3 weeks into the current NFL season and we already have some teams that look like legitimate Super Bowl contenders. It is, though, still too early to start thinking in those terms, especially when you consider the rate at which starting QB’s are picking up injuries this season. There is a lot of football still to be played, with some fortunes set to change for teams at the top and bottom of the standings.

As we do every week, we are looking ahead to the upcoming games to see if we can pick out some potential winners. For the purposes of this piece, we will be looking at the Week 4 Betting picks.

2019 NFL Week 4 ATS Betting Picks

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens  in NFL Week 4(-5 ½)

Yes, we are only 3 weeks into the regular season, but it already looks as though the Baltimore Ravens are going to be the team to beat in the AFC North. They have looked offensively sound though the opening weeks, and even though they are coming off a loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, they still put up a tremendous fight against a team that is a legitimate Super Bowl favorite.

Baltimore are not a great spread picks, going just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 at home, but you really need to like them at home to a Browns team that already looks to be in turmoil.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

  • Browns are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against Baltimore
  • Browns are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games played in week 4
  • Ravens are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games at home
  • Ravens are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against an opponent in the AFC North division

New England Patriots (-7 ½) at Buffalo Bills

If we are going to talk about dark horse teams in the early part of the season, then we need to put the 3-0 Buffalo Bills in the conversation. That said, this coming weekend will be the real test for the Bills, who will be hosting the defending champion Patriots, who actually look better this season than they did last year.

The Patriots failed to cover for the first time this season on Sunday, but they were still 16-point winners over Miami. New England has covered in each of their last 5 visits to Buffalo, so more of the same here.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

  • Patriots are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games
  • Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Buffalo
  • Bills are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games
  • Bills are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against an opponent in the AFC East division

Kansas City Chiefs (-6 ½) Over Detroit Lions

When you have a rookie QB do great things in his first season under center, there is always a concern that teams will have him figured out in his second year. This is why the sophomore slump is s very often a thing for any player in the NFL. Three weeks into the season, it would appear as though Patrick Mahomes is not going to have any such issues to deal with.

The Chiefs are favorites once again for their NFL Week 4 matchup against the Lions.

The Chiefs are rolling, winning and covering the spread in all 3 games to this point. They are now a ridiculous 10-0 ATS in their last 10 September games, so another good bet here.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

  • Chiefs are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games against Detroit
  • Chiefs are 10-0 ATS in their last 10 games played in September
  • Lions are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games
  • Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against an opponent in the AFC conference

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at LA Rams in NFL Week 4(-10)

Despite the fact that the Rams went all the way to the Super Bowl last season, they have been installed as very mild favorites in all 3 of their games to start the season. Not only have they won all of those games, they have also covered the spread, but they will have a tougher time this weekend with a double-digit spread to overcome.

While it is the biggest one yet for the Rams, there are definitely a couple of reasons to assume they will cover. They are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 versus conference foes.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

  • Buccaneers are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games against LA Rams
  • Buccaneers are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games against an opponent in the NFC West division
  • Rams are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games
  • Rams are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games against an opponent in the NFC conference
