NFL 2021 Draft Order Breakdown Update

NFL 2021 Draft Order Breakdown Update

Written by on January 4, 2021

The playoffs will begin this coming weekend, but for the teams who missed out, the planning for next season begins right now. For all those teams, that means thinking about who they might take in the 2021 NFL Draft, although a few will be looking to fill their vacant head coaching positions before they turn their attention to bringing in new players via the draft and free agency. The draft order is now officially set, so let’s take a look at who will be picking where, before any trades or other deals are made so you can get all set and place your bets against their NFL Draft odds.

Early look at the NFL 2021 Draft Order

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars – With just 1 win on the season, the Jags “won” the first pick sweepstakes, which means that they will likely be drafting QB Trevor Lawrence with their first pick. They will also be looking for a new head coach after firing Doug Marrone.
  2. New York Jets – Another team that will be looking for a new head coach after firing Adam Gace. Will they take a shot at another QB or stick with Sam Darnold?
  3. Miami Dolphins – Miami look to be on the brink of having a very good team. They had a 10-win season and just missed the Playoffs. A good draft could make them a contender next season.
  4. Atlanta Falcons – The Falcons will be looking for a new head coach and could potentially be blowing things up after another disappointing season.
  5. Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals appear to have their QB of the future with Joe Burrow. They now have a bunch of other spots to fill, including getting Burrow some protection.
  6. Philadelphia Eagles – After a 4-11-1 season, it will be interesting to see who sticks around this offseason. Rumors of a broken relationship between QB Carson Wentz and coach Doug Pederson abound.
  7. Detroit Lions – This is another team that looks set to blow things up after several consecutive poor seasons.
  8. Carolina Panthers – The Panthers do have some good pieces in place, but they still need some help to challenge in the NFC South.
  9. Denver Broncos – The Broncos finally seem to be set at the QB position, but need help in lots of other areas.
  10. Dallas Cowboys – A rough first season under new coach Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys need some help on defense.
  11. New York Giants – Injuries hurt the Giants this season, but they did have a decent second half.
  12. San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers are primed to have a bounce back season in 2021 after getting killed by injuries. Who will be at QB, though?
  13. LA Chargers – Another team looking for a new head coach before the draft.
  14. Minnesota Vikings – The window of opportunity seemed to close this season for the Vikings. Lots of decisions to make in the offseason.
  15. New England Patriots – The rebuilding starts now for the Patriots.
  16. Arizona Cardinals – A promising season turned sour in the second half for Arizona.
  17. Las Vegas Raiders – The Raiders looked like a playoff team in the first half, but it soon became clear that they need more help.
  18. Miami Dolphins – Another first round pick they go via a trade.
  19. Washington Football Team – With Dwayne Haskins getting cut, Washington is probably in the hunt for a QB.
  20. Chicago Bears – The Bears have a decision to make at QB before the draft.
  21. Jacksonville Jaguars – A trade with the LA Rams landed the Jags another first round pick.
  22. Indianapolis Colts – A good season for the Colts, who went 11-5 and into the playoffs.
  23. Cleveland Browns – A breakout season for the playoff bound Browns.
  24. Tennessee Titans – Consecutive playoff seasons for the Titans. They look to be very close.
  25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – How much longer is Brady going to play? Do the Bucs need a QB project?
  26. Baltimore Ravens – A serious Super Bowl contender with very few holes to fill.
  27. New York Jets – Another first round pick for the Jets, this one from the Seahawks.
  28. Pittsburgh Steelers – This is going to be an interesting offseason for a Steelers team with potential cap issues.
  29. New Orleans Saints – Is this the final season for Drew Brees?
  30. Buffalo Bills – Will they be making their first pick as the Super Bowl champion?
  31. Green Bay Packers – Surely, the 2021 draft will not be as controversial as 2020 for the Packers.
  32. Kansas City Chiefs – How much more help does this team really need?
