The Cleveland Browns failed to win a single game in 2017 after being limited to a paltry one victory in 2016. Still though, after a series of smart offseason free agent transactions and draft picks, the Browns look like they are poised to, dare I say it, approach .500 in 2018.
No matter how many victories the Browns actually end up with this coming season, they are clearly going to be an improved team that is competitive in a bunch of games on their 2018 schedule. With that thought in mind, I’ve taken the time to highlight a half-dozen games that are both, must-see, and must-wager matchups on Cleveland’s 2-18 docket. Let’s get to them right now.
Cleveland Browns 2018 NFL Betting Guide
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) June 21, 2018
Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 1:00 PM ET
While I’m going to have my fingers – and toes – crossed in the hopes for a huge upset in this one, I think the more likely scenario is that Pittsburgh narrowly gets past a feisty Cleveland team in something of a barn-burner in this regular season opener. Besides, I’m expecting the Browns to be a lot better later on in the season as opposed to right out of the gate!
NFL Betting Pick: Pittsburgh 28 Browns 20
Week 3: Thursday, Sept. 20, vs. New York Jets, 8:20 PM ET
Jets head coach Todd Bowles is one of my very favorite and most respected head coaches in all of football, but I’m thinking the Browns have a great chance to win this Week 2 matchup and that’s exactly what they are going to do! After falling to the Jets 17-14 at home last season, Cleveland gets it done this time around.
NFL Betting Pick: Browns 21 Jets 17
Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Baltimore Ravens, 1:00 PM ET
Cleveland got swept by Baltimore last season while getting held to an identical 10 points in each loss. No matter, I like veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to lead Cleveland to victory in this Week 5 clash against their longtime AFC North division rivals. Besides, I’d take Cleveland’s Tyrod Taylor, the former backup in Baltimore, over current starter Joe Flacco.
NFL Betting Pick: Browns 23 Ravens 21
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1:00 PM ET
Tampa Bay should have fired head coach Dirk Koetter after last season, but they didn’t and now I see a bunch of trouble on the horizon for the Buccaneers in 2018. I don’t have Cleveland winning many road games this coming season, but this is one of the ones I believe that can get!
NFL Betting Pick: Browns 27 Buccaneers 24
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, at Houston Texans, 1:00 PM ET
While Cleveland has made some really good moves in the draft in each of the last two offseasons, one of the foolish things they did was passing up on former Clemson superstar Deshaun Watson in last year’s draft. Watson has a game for the ages and Houston’s stingy defense shuts down Taylor and the Browns’ offense en route to the double-digit home
NFL Betting Pick: Texans 35 Browns 17
Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 PM ET
The Bengals have the look of a possible playoff participant and I just don’t see them losing what looks like an important Week 16 matchup against a longtime division rival that could help them get into the playoffs. Right now, Cincinnati is superior to Cleveland in all three phases of the game and that means Cincy is the pick to win this last season matchup against Cleveland.
NFL Betting Pick: Bengals 28 Browns 20
