The Redskins will attempt to push their all-time home record against the Cowboys to 29-32, including postseason play. The Redskins are seeking their first home victory against the Cowboys since a division-clinching 28-18 victory against Dallas in Week 17 of the 2012 season.
Last year, Dallas swept. The game in Maryland was 33-19. Ezekiel Elliott ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and the Cowboys took advantage of a blocked field goal and three turnovers. Playing in a driving rainstorm, Dak Prescott completed 14 of his 22 passes for 143 yards. Kirk Cousins was 26 of 39 for 263 yards and a 1-yard TD pass to Josh Doctson that cut it to 26-19, but Washington missed the extra point and Dallas sealed it with an interception return for a touchdown by Byron Jones with 21 seconds left. Cousins is now with Minnesota.
Why Bet on Dallas?
The Cowboys improved to 3-0 at home with last Sunday’s 40-7 rout of Jacksonville. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a touchdown in Dallas’ win last week and has nine career games with both a passing and rushing touchdown, tied for the fourth-most in league history by a player in his first three seasons.
Ezekiel Elliott rumbled to 106 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries while gaining 11 yards on his lone catch. The Cowboys’ offense isn’t what it was a few years ago but Elliott has remained productive, leading the NFL with 586 rushing yards through six games. Cole Beasley racked up nine catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 11 targets vs. the Jags.
Winless in three road games, the Cowboys are averaging just 12.3 points and 276 yards away from home this season, converting just nine of 38 third-down chances. Pro Bowl right guard Zack Martin said, “the communication on the road has not been anywhere near how it’s been at home.” At issue: two new starters on the line in Joe Looney and Connor Williams and new receivers and tight ends.
Top linebacker Sean Lee practiced this week for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury Sept. 23 at Seattle, but Jason Garrett said the linebacker will start out in a limited basis and see how he feels as the session goes along. If Lee can play Sunday, the Cowboys will work out a rotation between Lee, Jaylon Smith, and Leighton Vander Esch.
Garrett said WR Tavon Austin is unlikely to play this week against Washington and, “might need a little bit of time,” as he deals with a groin injury from the Jacksonville game.

Why Bet on Washington?
The Redskins beat visiting Carolina 23-17 last Sunday. Alex Smith completed 21-of-36 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Averaging just 4.53 yards per attempt, Smith was mostly dreadful, but the Panthers could never make him pay by creating a turnover. The Redskins won on the back of their running game.
Adrian Peterson rushed 17 times for 97 yards in the win despite playing through knee, ankle and shoulder issues. Peterson, who leads the team with 339 rushing yards, aims for his fourth consecutive game against Dallas with a rushing score.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden, on being 18-18-1 in the last 37 games: “When we’re up, we have a good front-running attitude. When we’re down, we have to figure out ways to get out of a funk.”
From an injury perspective, WR Jamison Crowder (ankle) won’t resume practicing until Friday at the earliest. That means he’s likely out again. Maurice Harris started in Crowder’s absence against the Panthers. Pass-catching RB Chris Thompson (ribs) was limited in practice this week. Thompson was limited last Wednesday before ultimately being inactive Week 6 against the Panthers.
