While the Dallas Cowboys certainly weren’t what could be considered ‘awful’ in 2017, they also weren’t nearly as good as they were one season earlier when they won a dozen games. Not only that, but the ‘Boys fell far behind a bunch of teams in the NFC including their longtime NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, who eventually went on to win Super Bowl 52 this past February.
Now, with Jerry Jones’ squad looking to become relevant again and get back into the playoffs, they’ve got a bunch of big-time matchups that look like must-see and must-bet affairs just waiting to happen. If you’re a gridiron gaming enthusiast that is looking for value when the Cowboys take to the field this coming season, then look no further. I’ve got six must-bet matchups that all have the look of value-packed pairings. let’s get to it MyBookie football faithful!
Dallas Cowboys 2018 NFL Betting Guide
Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, at Carolina Panthers, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Cowboys have a difficult regular season opener against a Carolina Panthers team that went 11-5 last season to reach the playoffs despite playing in the loaded NFC South. Cam Newton and company will most definitely be fired up for this contest simply because they’re playing the hated Cowboys who every team gets up for. Dallas should be better than they were a year ago if only because they’ll have Ezekiel Elliott for the entire season, but they won’t be good enough to put enough points on the board against a Panthers defense that gave up just 20.4 points per game and they won’t be good enough to win this contest.
NFL Betting Pick: Panthers 27 Cowboys 21
Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 23, at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Seattle Seahawks are a team in the midst of change after years of being a perennial Super Bowl contender. While the Legion of Boom defense is now a thing of the past, Seattle has a MVP caliber superstar n quarterback Russell Wilson and they’re still very difficult to beat at home. The last time the Boys visited Seattle they took a humbling 21-12 loss on the chin and I’m expecting another loss for the ‘Boys in this one.
NFL Betting Pick: Seahawks 28 Cowboys 21
Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, at Houston Texans, 8:20 p.m. ET
I’m sorry, but I expect the Houston Texans to be the best team in the state of Texas in 2018 thanks to the play of gifted quarterback Deshaun Watson and the return of several starters on Houston’s star-studded defense, including former defensive Player of the Year, J.J. Watt. The Texans will somehow manage to pull off the hard-fought win at home in this matchup.
NFL Betting Pick: Texans 24 Cowboys 23
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Jaguars may have only won one more game than the Cowboys last season, but they were actually a much better team that their NFC counterparts, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Still, I’m going to say that Dallas manages to eke out the super-narrow win at home in this one, if only because Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles is still pretty damned mediocre for a starting NFL quarterback.
NFL Betting Pick: Cowboys 23 Jaguars 21
Week 10: Nov. 11, at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:20 p.m. ET
The Cowboys may have managed to beat Philadelphia 6-0 in the City of Brotherly Love in their regular season finale a year ago, but that was a meaningless game for the Birds and now Philly will want some big-time revenge, which I believe they’ll easily get. Philadelphia is loaded on both sides of the ball and they’re hungry as they seek to become repeat champions. The Birds win and win going away in this one!
NFL Betting Pick: Eagles 31 Cowboys 21
Week 11: Nov. 18, at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. ET
The Cowboys got absolutely embarrassed in their 27-7 Week 10 loss at Atlanta last season as Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn racked up a mind-boggling six sacks and I believe the Boys are going down hard again in this week 11 matchup in 2018. Simply put, Atlanta is just the better team on both sides of the ball!
NFL Betting Pick: Falcons 30 Cowboys 21
