Detroit Lions NFL Season Win/Loss Total Odds & Prediction

Written by on May 24, 2019

Despite recording consecutive 9-7 records in 2016 and 2017 under former head coach Jim Caldwell and reaching the postseason twice in four seasons, the Detroit Lions decided to part ways with the soft-spoken, but widely-respected former coach. Now, after sinking to six wins in the first season under former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia in 2018, the Lions will enter the 2019 campaign looking for nothing other than to get back to being a winning franchise.

If you’re an NFL fan and betting aficionado that is looking to cash in on some of the value-packed NFL win total odds and you want to know just how many games the Lions are going to win in 2019, then you’ve come to the right place!

Thanks to the expert NFL predictions that you’re about to get on each and every game on Detroit’s upcoming 2019 docket, you’re going to have a great idea of just how many games the Lions will win this coming season.

Detroit closed out the regular season ranked in the bottom third in every significant offensive category, including 25th in scoring (20.2 ppg). While the Lions did rank an encouraging eighth against pass and equally impressive 10th against the run, they did finish just 16th in points allowed (22.5 ppg).

To address their offseason needs the Lions drafted Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson with the eighth overall pick before adding Hawaii linebacker Jahlani Tavai in the second round and Boston College safety Will Harris in the third round. In free agency, the Lions re-signed running back Zach Zenner while adding former Patriots end rusher Trey Flowers and former Dolphins wide receiver Danny Amendola among others.

Detroit Lions 2019 NFL Season Win/Loss Total Odds & Prediction

Week 1 at Arizona

I’ve got the Lions falling to Arizona in this regular season opener as the Kyler Murray/Kliff Kingsbury era gets off to a winning start in the desert. Lo.. 0-1.

Week 2 vs. LA Chargers

The Lions fall again to a superior Chargers squad that has Super Bowl aspirations in the first of four meetings against teams from the AFC West. Loss. 0-2.

Week 3 at Philadelphia

Detroit fall s to 0-3 by losing to a Philadelphia team that is should locked in and focused from the outset of the season as they fully commit to Carson Wentz. Loss. 0-3.

Week 4 vs. Kansas City

Everyone in the Motor City will be pointing fingers following this Week 4 home loss against a Chiefs team that has the huge edge on offense. 0-4.

Week 5 BYE

Week 6 at Green Bay

The Lions will be well-rested after a much-needed bye, but I’ve got Detroit falling on the road at Green Bay after sweeping their longtime NFC North division rivals a year ago, including a stunning 31-0 road win over the Packers in Week 17. Loss. 0-5.

Week 7 vs. Minnesota

The Lions were limited to an identical nine points in a pair of losses against Minnesota a year ago, but I’m going to back the Lions in this Week 7 matchup simply because they’re playing at home and will be completely and utterly desperate by the time Week 7 rolls around. Win. 1-5.

Week 8 vs. NY Giants

Detroit makes it two straight by getting past Eli Manning and the G-Men in an absolute thriller. 2-5.

Week 9 at Oakland

I’m not real high on Oakland heading into 2019, but the Raiders are playing at home and this looks like a game they should win. Loss. 2-6.

Week 10 at Chicago

The Lions were swept by the suddenly scary Bears and I’ve got Detroit falling to their longtime rivals twice again in 2019. Loss. 2-7.

Week 11 vs. Dallas

The Lions fell on the road at Dallas 26-24 in Week 4 last season, but I’m thinking sheer desperation will be the driving force for Detroit to get the narrow home win in this Week 11 matchup. Win. 3-7.

Week 12 at Washington

This is a game the Lions could win, but I don’t see it happening, seeing as how the Skins won seven games a year ago and are playing at home in what should be a must-win kind of matchup for them. Loss. 3-8.

Week 13 vs. Chicago

Sweep, sweep, sweep. The Lions fall to the Bears again. Loss. 3-9.

Week 14 at Minnesota

Break out the brooms again. Detroit suffers its second straight loss and second consecutive sweep against a division rival. Loss. 3-10.

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay

The Bucs will be improved in 2019, but I’ve got Matt Stafford to outplay Jameis Winston to help the Lions get the hard-fought home win in this matchup. Win. 4-10.

Week 16 at Denver

While I don’t think the Broncos are going to be much better than they were a year ago when they won just six games, but I’m going to say Joe Flacco manages to avoid a bad game to help Denver record one of the few wins I have them recording in 2019. Loss. 4-11.

Week 17 vs. Green Bay

The Lions recorded a huge road win over the Packers in Week 17 a year ago and I believe Detroit will duplicate that feat by getting their final win of the 2019 season to finish with five victories. Win. 5-11.

While it’s possible the Lions could scratch out six wins, I don’t see them reaching the seven-win plateau. Play the Under NFL betting buffs!
