Houston Texans 2017 NFL Betting Guide & Free Picks

Written by on June 22, 2017

The Houston Texans have been a model of consistency in posting three straight 9-7 records while reaching the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. While this would be a pretty impressive feat for any franchise, the Texans admittedly have bigger goals heading into the 2017 season, particularly after drafting gifted quarterback Deshaun Watson in this year’s NFL Draft. Whether the Texans exceed the nine-win mark and make an extended playoff run or not, there are a handful of ‘must-bet’ games on Houston’s 2017 schedule that no NFL betting enthusiast should miss out on. Thanks to yours truly, I have identified six of Houston’s must-bet matchups for the coming season and have a half-dozen accompanying expert ATS picks to go along with them. Now, let’s get to it.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Houston Texans 2017 NFL Betting Guide & Free Picks

Week 1

Jaguars at Texans (-4.5) Analysis: The Texans swept the Jasksonville Jaguars a year ago by recording a 24-21 road win in Week 10 as a 3-point road dog and 21-20 in Week 15 as a 3.5-point home favorite. With both teams upgrading their respective rosters this offseason, I’m thinking the revamped Jags will cover the ATS spread in a divisional matchup that looks like a field goal finish just waiting to happen. Pick: Texans 24 Jaguars 21

Week 3

Texans at Patriots (-9) Analysis: Houston was shutout by New England 27-0 in Week 3 last season while never coming close to covering the spread as a 4-point home favorite. With the Texans going 2-6 ATS on the road last season, I’m thinking Tom Brady and company are the pick to get the easy SU win and narrow ATS cover. Pick: Patriots 27 Texans 17

Week 4

Titans at Texans (-3) Analysis: Houston and Tennessee split their two regular season matchups with both teams winning at home including the Texans’ 27-20 win in Week 4 as a 4-point home fave. While I’ve already gone on record to pick Tennessee to win the AFC South, I do like Houston to get the home win and ATS cover in this Week 4 AFC South divisional clash. Pick: Texans 28 Titans 24

Week 5

Chiefs at Texans (-1) Analysis: Houston picked up an impressive 19-12 home win over Kansas City in Week 2 a year ago to cash in as a 1-point home underdog, but I don’t see that happening this time around as the Chiefs get the road win and ATS cover after going a stellar 6-2 ATS on the road a year ago while winning a dozen games. Pick: Chiefs 27 Texans 21

Week 8

Texans at Seahawks (-7.5) Analysis: Houston won’t win this Week 8 road date against a Seattle Seahawks team that has their own elite defense, but I am going to advise you to back the Texans to cover the NFL betting line as 7.5-point road dogs simply because Seattle doesn’t have the most explosive offense around, whether they’re playing at home or not. Pick: Seahawks 24 Texans 17

Week 9

Colts at Texans (-3) Analysis: The Texans swept the Colts a year ago, but only managed to beat Andrew Luck and company by three points in overtime in their 26-23 Week 6 win while failing to cover the NFL betting line as a 3-point home fave. While I like Houston to get the home win in this divisional matchup, Luck and the Colts are the pick to narrowly cover the spread. Pick: Texans 30 Colts 27
