New York Jets 2018 NFL Betting Guide

Written by on July 6, 2018

While the New York Jets struggled in posting a dismal 5-11 record a year ago, they’ll enter the 2018 campaign with some renewed hopes because of a handful of moves they made this offseason. The Jets added veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in free agency and drafted strong-armed signal-caller Sam Darnold out of USC with the third overall pick in the draft. While it’s expected that Darnold will likely sit and learn this coming season, Bridgewater will challenge veteran Josh McCown for the starting spot if his surgically repaired knee holds up after virtually two years away from the game. No matter who starts or how the Jets fare in 2018, the longtime AFC East residents have some intriguing games on their upcoming schedule that look like must-see, must-bet matchups that no NFL betting fan enthusiast shouldn’t miss out on. Here’s my take on those contests!

New York Jets 2018 NFL Betting Guide

Week 1: Monday, Sept. 10, at Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m. ET

The Jets have a Monday night matchup to kick off their 2018 season, but it won’t be a successful debut as Matt Stafford and company hold it down at home for new head coach Matt Patricia, who knows the Jets schemes very well from his time with the New England Patriots. NFL Betting Pick: Lions 27 Jets 20

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, vs. Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets beat the Dolphins at home in Week 3 last year and they’ll get the home win over the Fins again in this matchup – or maybe you don’t know Ryan Tannehill is the perfect definition of mediocre! NFL Betting Pick: Jets 24 Dolphins 21

Week 3: Thursday, Sept. 20, at Cleveland Browns, 8:20 p.m. ET

The Jets-Browns have a game in prime time and although that seems a bit weird. I think it’s going to be a good game between two evenly matched teams. Cleveland gets the win in this one though behind veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor. NFL Betting Pick: Browns 27 Jets 24

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 30, at Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets are going to get beat so bad in this contest, the Jaguars could be arrest for assault! Jacksonville has some legitimate Super Bowl hopes and uh, the Jets do not! NFL Betting Pick: Jaguars 32 Jets 10

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, vs. Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. ET

Andrew Luck might be back on the field for the Colts this coming season, but Indy has a bunch of holes on both sides of the ball. Todd Bowles’ outstanding defensive schemes leads New York to the home win in this one! NFL Betting Pick: Jets 30 Colts 24

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, vs. Minnesota Vikings, 1 p.m. ET

Minnesota will be a touchdown favorite in this Week 7 matchup – and they’ll cover it while shutting down New York’s modest offense from beginning to end! NFL Betting Pick: Vikings 28 Jets 7 Are the Jets a safe bet for the 2018 NFL season?

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. ET

Miami gets the regular season split in this one even though I’ll never think very highly of Ryan Tannehill and believe the Dolphins had better really start preparing for life after their underachieving and overpaid signal-caller. NFL Betting Pick: Dolphins 24 Jets 21

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 11, vs. Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. ET

The Bills snapped a 17-year playoff drought last season, but they foolishly jettisoned starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor in favor of the combination of AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman while they groom rookie Josh Allen. Bad move! NFL Betting Pick: Jets 20 Bills 17

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 25, vs. New England Patriots, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets got swept by the division rival Patriots and t will take a miracle for them to avoid another sweep in 2018. This just isn’t a fair matchup. Tom Brady and company cruise in this one! NFL Betting Pick: Patriots 27 Jets 17

Week 15: Saturday, Dec. 15, vs. Houston Texans, 4:30 or 8:20 p.m. ET

The Jets are one of the teams that passed on drafting Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson and although safety Jamal Adams looks like a player, he’s no franchise changer like Houston’s prized signal-caller. Watson makes New York pay in this Week 15 clash! NFL Betting Pick: Texans 28 Jets 14 New York will close out their 2018 campaign with a pair of losses at home against Green Bay in Week 17 and on the road at New England in Week 17. Both losses will come by at least a touchdown too!
