NFL Divisional Round Over/Under Picks
The Wild Card games are officially in the books, and that means we are down to 8 teams ready to battle it out in the Divisional Round. There were no surprises last weekend, with all the online betting favorites moving on in rather comfortable fashion. We will have a look at potential upsets this weekend in another article, but for now, we are going to focus on the OVER/UNDER for each of the upcoming games. Things tend to tighten up considerably once we get to the playoffs, so it’s going to be a little tougher to make these picks, but I am determined to give you guys some winners, so let’s dig a little deeper into each of the 4 games on tap.
Here’s A Closer Look At The NFL Divisional Round Over/Under Picks
Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons – OVER/UNDER 51
What we have here is the best offense in the league going head to head with one of the best defenses. It may be oversimplifying things, but the unit that does their thing the best will move on, and will also affect where the point total lands. When Atlanta Falcons has started as a favorite this season, which they will do again this weekend, they have seen their O/U go 9-0, while Seattle is 2-1 O/U when in as the underdog. These two teams met earlier in the season, with Seattle winning 26-24 and taking the total OVER the 46.5. It’s going to be close, but I think this one falls just UNDER.
Houston Texans at New England Patriots – OVER/UNDER 44.5
This game has the potential to be the biggest mismatch of the weekend, as I see no way that Houston are going to be able to hang with the Patriots. It’s Brady versus Osweiler, and there is a clear winner in that match-up. I don’t see Houston being very effective in moving the ball, and the OVER/UNDER on this one may come down to how badly the Patriots wasn’t to run up the score. I think they will simply wear the Texans down, and I like this one to come in around 40 points, which means the UNDER wins. It also helps that the least two meetings between these teams have gone UNDER.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs – OVER/UNDER 44.5
These two teams met earlier in the season, and it was the Steelers who won in a blowout, with the point total going well OVER. This meeting figures to be a whole lot closer, though, but I am not so sure that the Chiefs are going to be able to keep that potent Steelers offense off the board completely. I can very easily see both of these teams scoring 20 or more points each, even though both have been more inclined to the UNDER in their games this season. This should be a tight game, and one that sneaks into OVER territory.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys – OVER/UNDER 52
Of the 4 games being played this weekend, this is the one most likely to dissolve into a shootout. The concern for the Packers is the health of Jordy Nelson, but it is worth remembering that the offense started to click last weekend versus the Giants after Nelson left the game with a rib injury. We all know what the Cowboys can do offensively, which is why it may be a surprise to learn that the least 3 meetings between these two has gone UNDER. The stat that really jumps out here, though, is that of the last 10 match-ups between these teams in Dallas, 9 have gone OVER. Going with the OVER again this weekend.
