NFL Draft Odds Picks Highlight Position Picks

Written by on April 18, 2017

Is the Clemson superstar signal-caller Deshaun Watson going to be the first quarterback drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft? In addition to Watson, how many other quarterbacks will be drafted in the first round? Do you know how many running backs will be drafted in the first round or how many players from perennially powerful Alabama will go in the first round? Thanks to the recent release of NFL Draft odds and my expert betting analysis, you’re going to find out the answers to all of the aforementioned questions and more. Now, let’s rock and roll.

No. of QBs selected in Round 1

Over 3.5 (+140) Under 3.5 (-160) Analysis: Only four quarterbacks have a chance to go in the first round in North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer and Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes II. However, with Mahomes II and Kizer being considered more of projects that will take longer to reach their full potential, I think only Trubisky and Watson will go in the first round. Pick: Under 3.5

Who Will Be The First Quarterback Selected In 2017 NFL Draft?

Mitch Trubisky -200 Deshaun Watson +200 Patrick Mahomes +1200 DeShone Kizer +1400 Analysis: I know NFL scouts and front office personnel men have former North Carolina signal-caller Mitch Trubisky  being a near, sure-fire pick to be drafted ahead of former Clemson superstar Deshaun Watson, but for me, I just couldn’t pass up on the more mobile Watson and his far superior – and unsurpassed – leadership skills. Don’t get me wrong, I can see why everyone likes Trubisky as he has the look of a prototypical NFL signal-caller, but again, for me Watson’s ability to lead – and extend plays with his running ability – makes him a ‘no-brainer’ to be the first quarterback picked in the 2017 NFL Draft. Still, I think Trubisky will go first – to some team that will likely wish they had nabbed Watson five years down the road. Pick: Mitch Trubisky

Who Will Be The First Wide Receiver Selected In 2017 NFL Draft?

Mike Williams -500 Corey Davis +375 John Ross +1200 Analysis: John Ross may have recorded the fastest 40-yeard dash time in NFL Combine history, but he won’t go first overall as that title will go to Clemson superstar Mike Williams and rightfully so, seeing as how the 6-4, 218-pound Williams is big, fast and strong – and holds on to almost everything thrown his way. Pick: Mike Williams

No. of RBs selected in Round 1

Over 2.5 (-160) Under 2.5 (+140) Analysis: I’ll get right to the point by saying that I will be completely stunned if LSU’s Leonard Fournette, Stanford’s Christian McCaffery and Florida State’s Dalvin Cook aren’t all drafted in the first round. Pick: Over 2.5

No. of Alabama players selected in Round 1

Over 4.5 (-140) Under 4.5 (+120) Analysis: One year after just one Alabama player went in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft, a quartet of Alabama stars are expected to go in the first round in superstar defensive end Jonathan Allen, tight end O.J. Howard, linebacker Reuben Foster and cornerback Marlon Humphrey. Sure, it’s possible that another Crimson Tide player could sneak into the first round, but I don’t it happening. Pick: Under 4.5 Players

No. of LSU players selected in Round 1

Over 2.5 (+110) Under 2.5 (-130) Analysis: Safety Jamal Adams has an impressive skill set that now has him projected to go as high as third overall while superstar running back Leonard Fournette is also expected to go inside the top 10 picks. Cornerback Tre’Davious White will likely go later in the first round, giving the Tigers three first round picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Play the Over. Pick: Over 2.5 Players
