Final Super Bowl 52 Betting Preview & Score Prediction

Super Bowl 52 Betting Preview & Final Score Prediction

Written by on January 30, 2018

I am somewhat cautious when it comes to wagering on championship games, usually waiting until the very last minute to get my bets in. Lines have a tendency to shift, as they already have this week, which can potentially mean leaving money on the table if you jumped in too early. I will probably still hold off on getting my bets in until Sunday morning, but I do feel that it’s time to share with you all how I think things might play out, so you guys can start planning your Super Bowl 52 betting strategy. My team of choice is not in the big game this year, and I do all I can to keep my personal feeling about the teams taking part out of the equation, which isn’t always easy to do. On the one hand, you have the juggernaut New England Patriots looking to further cement themselves as a dynasty, while you also have a Philadelphia Eagles team that has embraced the underdog label throughout the playoffs. It’s not quite David vs. Goliath here, but it’s also not that far off. Let’s take a closer look at the game, and then finish things off with my Super Bowl 52 final score prediction.

Why consider the Patriots Super Bowl 52 Betting Odds?

What can you write about this Patriots team, particularly the Brady/Belichick factor, that hasn’t been written already? They have proven themselves to be the best in the business at winning when the games really matter, and I think we can now all agree that Brady is the GOAT. This, for me at least, does not necessarily mean that they are going to run away with this game. Yes, the stitches are now out of Brady’s throwing hand, but will there still be issues, and what is up with the status of Rob Gronkowski? The big man is in the concussion protocol after getting hammered in the AFC Championship Game, and we have yet to hear much more about his current playing status. This is a team that always seems to find a way to win, though, just as they did against the Jaguars, and that is what makes them so dangerous.

Team Statistics

Offense
  • Average Score For: 28.72
  • Total Yards: 393.78
  • Rush Yards: 113.11
  • Passing Yards: 280.67
Defense
  • Average Score Against: 18.33
  • Total Yards: 360.94
  • Rush Yards: 111.22
  • Passing Yards: 249.72

Why consider the Eagles Super Bowl 52 Betting Odds?

There is always pressure on any team playing in the Super Bowl, but for the Eagles, much of that pressure has already been removed. They came into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the NFC but will now be playing their third straight game as the underdog, with the majority of folks out there believing that they are onto a beating here. Nick Foles and the Eagles will be looking to pull off the upset at the Super Bowl 52 Betting Odds against the Patriots. Let’s not forget that this is a team that totally dismantled the best defense in the league in the NFC Championship Game, and all while playing a QB who has been slated since taking over from the injured Carson Wentz. A disrespected team is always a dangerous one, especially when they embrace the underdog role. I am not suggesting that the Eagles are going to come out and dominate this game, but they are going to keep it close, in my humble opinion.

Offense
  • Average Score For: 28.33
  • Total Yards: 369.00
  • Rush Yards: 128.94

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The questionable status of Gronkowski has seen the point spread move from 5 ½ to 4 ½ in favor of the Patriots this week, which would suggest that the Eagles are getting some love. I think the Patriots will win, but I think it will be the Eagles who cover, with the point spread coming in UNDER 48.
